worship tanny? not really sure what you're getting at here. every offseason he finds a way to give us the cap room to make a major move or two. does this create a perpetual cycle of cap reconfiguration? sure. but it's not like he's the only GM doing this. how else do you expect to have multiple stars on this team without re-structuring contracts as early and often as possible? tanny is not going to the hall of fame any time soon, but he is definitely not a bad GM. basically every significant player we have was drafted by tanny, or acquired via a trade without giving up much. he did a good job holding on to our picks these year, but i'll admit he really, really needs to have a strong draft this year. in other news, michael floyd ran a 4.4 40 at the combine. are there still people on this board who think he's too slow to be a playmaker at the next level? guess it doesn't matter, since it's very unlikely that he'll be there at 16 now. with JAC, WAS, BUF, SEA and ARI all needing wide receivers, it seems like he's a lock for the top 13.
Rex likes 5T's that can kick inside in the nickle and provide pressure as a DT. We do run some 4 man fronts. That is part of the reason Rex was so happy with Wilkerson. He has the ability to anchor the edge, but also the skill to penetrate his gap and make a play in the back feild. More than anything Rex likes versatile players in his front seven. It helps with the ability to desguise what is coming if a guy can do more than one set job. This is not the Pittsburgh 34.
Yet we are in desperate need of speed at the WR position and could do without another character WR with questionable character. Sounds like the perfect match...LOL.
to be fair, we're not really lacking top end speed at the WR position with Santonio and Jeremy on the roster. What we ARE missing is a vertical threat, and that is what Floyd would provide. Not to mention, he just ran a 4.4 at the combine... not slow by any means. I know he got in some trouble at ND, but all indications show that he's straightened out his act, and isn't the party boy he once was. It's unlikely that he'll be there at 16 anyways, though.
