If we keep him, he belongs at NT if we play the 3-4. He's too short and not quick enuf at DE.

Abe can certainly play OLB in the 3-4. He won't be great in coverage, obviously, but more often than not, in passing situations, he'll be rushing the passer. There's a big difference between what a 3-4 OLB does and a 4-3 OLB does. Most 3-4 OLBs are pass rushing defensive ends in college who are undersized, so they play 3-4 OLB. Guys like Ware and Jason Babin are exactly that type. Abraham can play 3-4 OLB or 4-3 DE. He can't play 3-4 DE or 4-3 OLB.

Didn't the Jets try to move to a 3-4 already with Abe as the 3-4 OLB? And then didn't it fail miserably?

  4. He was average his rookie year and average this past season, but in 2004 he was a top 10 DT in the league. D rob was one of those players Herm let screw around w/ their weight and such, kinda like what happend his rookie year as well. When he was at his best, he was kept in the 305 lb area and he was quite good.

I doubt he'll be inflating his playing weight w/ Mangini in charge, and if we indeed play a D similar to the Pats, expect a big year from D rob. Why? The patriots D feasts on creating mismatches/confussion. D rob's playing style flourishes when put in those types of situations. If he's truly healthy and motivated, look for a huge year.
