And you think that hasn't been due to the lack of quality TE's?

Give Gailey a top TE like Gronk, or even a good quality one like Greg Olsen, and he'd find a way to get them the ball.

4 good seasons out of 11... this guy doesn't give a damn about a receiving TE.. and the 4 seasons he did I wonder who the WRs were.. I know bills didn't have many good ones until recently.

In 2011 and 2012, Steve Johnson had over 1,000 yards receiving.

Gailey's ideal TE is not Gronk, it's Mark Bruener. 20 or so receptions a year with 2 or three touchdowns....

It's really not a bad way to go, either. I'd take a blocking TE and two RBs who can take a screen to the house than try to mess with Cumberland and Bohanon trying to block OR catch.

Who wouldn't? I'd also take an Antonio Gates, Tony Gonzalez, Greg Olsen and a lot of other TEs.

I LOVE Lamar Miller. Guy was under-utilized in Miami and is the perfect back for our system. I would try to lock up Ivory and Miller. Both compliment each other very well.

I would cut Cromartie and trade Wilkerson for a pick(s) and use the money gained to be used on the offensive Line and draft an OLB from the Wilkerson pick. Von Miller is a pipe dream and too expensive for my liking

Facts. People don't know how good Lamar can be if utilized correctly.. Duel threat back that will have us like Bilal who?! only thing is though i kind of think Ivory is going to want to be paid like a top 5 RB... he's 27 and never got a nice contract yet.. it's now or never for him. Bilal and Lamar will still be fire combo if they can stay healthy

Also hearing CJ Spiller will be cut too... he's 29 and injure prone he should come cheap he knows chan's system.. wanted to come here last year but we didnt try to get him.. we may revisit these rumors this summer.

CJ Spiller + Lamar Miller is also a fire combo

If the Jets franchise Wilkerson for 12.58M (it's the average compensation for 2016 between the top 5 paid players at the position -- Campbell, Watt, Jordan, Heyward, & Liuget in that order), they will need to deal him by March 9 if they want to retain Harrison and also get draft picks for Wilk.

After March 9, the Jets have to be under the salary cap and won't be able to have Wilk's 12.58M, Fitz's new contract AND Harrison's new contract (which will probably be in the 3.5M/year range) on the books.

Yeah but then when you account people that will be cut and others restructured.. it may have us under.

I'm not arguing against this at all!
I'm not saying Chan would leave any of those guys on the bench, either-- his history shows he would use them if he had them, I'm not arguing that. I just think his history also shows he isn't looking for those guys. I don't expect him to put any priority whatsoever into bringing a guy like that in here because he'd rather have shifty RBs who can catch it out of the backfield and big bodied WRs who can fight for the ball. I would expect him to line Amaro up in the slot or in the backfield more than at the line when he gets healthy.

Please guys, understand that I'm all about this team having a great pass catching TE, I just don't think Chan Gailey cares whether we have one or not, and would rather we spend our money on positions he seems to prefer to build his offense around. It may not even be his call who we pick up or draft, but it seems more than a little ridiculous for a HC or GM to bring in a guy, especially a high priced or high pick guy on offense if the OC isn't emphasizing the position.

The perfect TE for Chan Gailey's system is Tyler Eifert

    Lol...yeah

I just hope Amaro amounts to something. He looks like he might have maturity issues also. You have to get people to play ST's too.

Gailey is old as hell .This team should be looking for a good TE regardless if Gailey uses them or not. They should be drafting/FA pickup for years down the road more than just the moment. They haven't had real offensive talent for a long time because of reasons like that.

Excellent point. Building around what Gailey wants is not a good long term plan.

Not that they should NOT get whoever Gailey wants. But if BPA is there, go with it regardless.
