What about Fleener?. I'm not really that familiar with him in the NFL, but liked him coming out. Fuck this shit with Cumby and Kellen Davis. I don't care if Davis can block, he cant catch a pass. He doesn't know how to be a receiver, and I'm not interested to see if he somehow even starts to develop that ability. Sending him out for a pass is a waste of time. And I'm tired Cumby's potential too..... because he's fast
I would agree with you if the Jets were able to keep both Wilkerson and Harrison. But if not, they should have enough left over for a medium to top FA signing, if it fills a real hole.
Terrible QBing? I know that Andrew Luck was injured and had a bad season, but I thought that Matt Hasselback had a very good season. Fleener had 54 receptions this season, a career best, although his ypc were cut in half, but that's a product of having an old Hasselback at QB who doesn't have the arm that Luck has.
I meant he would have had more catches and yards per catch with Luck, 9 yards a catch, 491 yds with Hasselback
Pro Football Focus @PFF Jan 4 The Steelers cornerback Antwon Blake broke PFF records for yards allowed in coverage (1,074) and missed tackels (28) this year. No thanks to this guy.
He has been a great player and a workhorse, but I think he's pretty close to done. He only started 13 games this season and had career lows in carries, yards, and receptions, and next to lowest TDs. He's 30 years old has had over 2,000 carries for the Bears. IMO the Jets need a young RB with fresh legs, speed and receiving ability.
I can't see Jets giving him any more than 12 for the year and i can't see any starting QB taking less than that.. We'll probably end up spennding more on Fitz than planned.
The Jets still have Zach Sudfeld as a restricted free agent. Sudfeld is an excellent pass catching TE, just need to see if he gain his speed back after the ACL injury. Also, he's making league minimum, so it won't hurt cap-wise to bring him back.
I looked at the NFL FA list, and even if the Jets had a lot of cap space, it doesn't look like there will be a lot of help for the Jets. There are a lot of names, I don't know, however, so there could be a young, cheap, player on the rise at the TE, OG or OT position. Can Coby Fleener block? He probably would be too expensive anyway. Charcandrick West is an exclusive rights FA, so I think whoever suggested him can forget about that. Ben Watson had a good year, but I'd be very surprised if NO doesn't re-sign him as I heard he had a very good year. Vonn Miller or Tamba Hali would be awesome, but I see no way we could get either of those.
You never know Maccagnan could get creative with cap space.. we aint getting the Von Millers of the world but there are some quality guys that can fit what we do that are affordable.. (Lamar Miller, Raji) retain ivory and fitz... Add lamar miller and Benjamin from Cleveland as our deep threat/ KR guy and i'm happy.
Ben Watson could be a cheap reliable stopgap at TE. have always liked him. very high character guy, and a leader too. Benjamin is a legit deep threat and punt returner. Oline, specifically RT, might be the most important position to address. not sure who will be available yet..
I'd rather have Ladarius Green. He's a better blocker, two years younger, and would probably demand less.
