I think well be fine. Grab a fa and let's go. You can't have a probowler at every position. Schotty has to earn his money.
This may have already been posted, but its a summary of the press conference with Rex Ryan after the draft. Addresses his thoughts on what we should/will do at the WR position as well as other positions. Take from it what you will. http://www.nj.com/jets/index.ssf/2009/04/rex_ryan_raw_on_the_new_york_j.html
Free Agent WR's still out there... Matt Jones Plaxico Burress Marvin Harrison Drew Bennett DJ Hackett Nate Jackson Jerry Porter Reggie Williams Ashley Lelie I'd love to give matt jones, nate jackson and/or Reggie Williams a shot.
You for real Matt Jones? First of all he has all the legal problems then add in that even when he was on the field he sucked. Last year was his best year and he still only had 65 Receptions for 761 yards and 2 TD. Lelie or Bennett Id give a contract with incentives. Id also take a look at Toomer he did a good job last year for the G-men and Id rather have guys that can catch the ball then burners. They can make a rookie QB look better.
Matt Jones is a dropper and a two time loser, but if he actually focused on football instead of the yayo I think he could be a great receiver. I wouldn't be totally against giving him a shot. I would also consider giving Harrison or Toomer a one year deal.
I guess i share GBA's view on Matt Jones. If he could get his crap together I think he could contribute and he could be had for cheap. He'd never be an all-pro but he could fill a need. Sign him cheap, if he doesn't get it together by training camp, cut him. You lose nothing.
Agreed but we don't need a long term investment. If we can get production out of a guy for a year then we can look for a more permanent solution next year.
