I hear what you're saying. I would love to have Houston here, but realize that it isn't practical, mostly because of the $ he would command against the cap, and plus the team could sign 2-3 FAs for the same amount, but also because of what you point out about needing an OLB who can cover TEs and RBs over the middle. With Houston here, the Jets would have a phenomenal pass rush and they wouldn't have to blitz so much to get to the QB. Any time a team blitzes they are taking a risk. If one DB blows an assignment or misses a tackle, the result is a big gainer, if not a TD. It isn't just about getting sacks, although those can turn the tide of momentum, particularly a strip sack. It's also about forcing the QB to get rid of the ball sooner, which can mess up timing on routes and can cause TOs. As you know, the team has sucked in creating TOs. Having a real, honest-to-God pass rushing OLB should be able to create more TOs.

I don't see Reilly as ever being anything more than a backup.

No he doesn't. He's a limited player, but is pretty consistent and doesn't beat himself with TOs and mental mistakes.

Basically we're looking at JAG vet, Geno and unready rookie under center in 2015. if we're lucky one of those will pique and we're in better shape than we thought. but we're probably gonna have a lower tier passing game no matter what.

a matt moore or shaun hill shouldn't excite anybody, but thats what we're looking at. its not a year to commit at QB, its a year to build up for the next guy, wether he be on roster drafted this year or next or whatever.

at this point I'll settle for being the texans of 2015, get a winning record despite a long list of nothing special at QB.
