He drafted poorly....no one will dispute that point funny but if he had just drafted either of Mahomes or Watson at 6 instead of Adams, he’d probably still be our GM as we’d have been a much better team. Funny how one move would have dramatically changed our history
Was just listening to Brett kohlmann talking about 10 defensive gems in the draft and he raved about Collins.
Fun fact, the Titans drafted our new #1 receiver, Cory Davis, one pick before we drafted Adams. Mariota was their QB at the time.
Imagine Mahomes playing the McCown/Sam years. What a waste of talent that would have been. We would be trying to tell fans from other teams that our QB could be really good if he could just get some help. And they'd be like, "ya sure - he sucks".
That's the thing. The super bowl says a lot. Tom Brady was very pedestrian that game, while Mahomes, the best FQB in football, was running for his life. So fans of other teams (Jets) that say the ONLY path forward is to acquire a FQB are not being totally honest. Maybe the EASIEST path forward is a FQB, but defense can also win championships. Maybe not as many, but enough to be heard. So JD has a decision: Stay with Sam and use all that draft cap to assemble a devastating defense (plus offense/teams), or roll the dice on a rookie QB and go from there. Hope the rookie develops into a better QB than Sam, and use what's left of our drafts + FA to build out the rest of the team. Decisions Decisions! If JD had a crystal ball that said Sam playing on a good team can be a good+ QB, then there is no decision to make.
Funny because JD has been pretty active putting pieces in place through free agency. DE Carl Lawson WR Corey Davis DT Sheldon Rankins LB Jarred Davis WR Kellan Cole OL Dan Freeny S LaMarcus Joyner TE Tyler Kroft ST Justin Hardee And continuing
Interesting trade proposal on Twitter. I'd be shocked if Pittsburgh even considered it. What are your thoughts? It would be great to have another 1st round pick, but with Raskins' injury history I don't think we could count on him to stay healthy. Losing Fatukasi would hurt our DL and D.
I think the point was that if you brought Mahomes onto a crummy team, where he is running for his life and nobody can separate, then he wouldn't have changed our future that much. Especially considering Mac had no interest in building around a QB and we would have started him day `1.
This assumes that Maholmes would look as worthless as Sam does, which I find extremely hard to believe. Even under siege in the SB he looked worlds better than Darnold.
I agree with your take that doubtful the Steelers would do this...But if the Jets definitely want to trade Darnold, despite losing Fatukasi, they'd have to be all over this IMO...then after #2 you could cover two of the three needs in round one; 2nd pass rusher, IOL, CB in no particular order
I think that the Steelers would be the biggest idiots on the planet to complete a trade like this. Sam Darnold sucks. Plain and simple.
