He probably has exactly one year to fix the Patriots or Kraft is going to "retire" him and go with whatever is next. That would explain all the short drafts in Brady's last couple of seasons and all the signings now. It would also explain Cam Newton twice because Belichik does not have the time to draft and develop a starter.

I get not over spending on FA, but careful what you wish for. I rather over spend on top tier (and young) FA and then over spend 2nd, 3rd tier FA players to Multiple year deals. I trust JD in making good deals but we re going to have to over spend on one or two guys if you a high tier guys.
The players that hit FA are almost never top tier except for a select few. This year is a BIT different because of COVID but still. FA is all about making smart acquisitions at positions of need that truly improve your team. Give me 4-5 “overpaid” 2nd tier guys that will make some impact over one “star” like Jonnu or a Judon any day of the week. It’s great to win FA but FA isn’t how you build a team. You go all in during FA when you’re truly 1-2 pieces away.
