My dream draft is to spend 7 picks on fat white guys.

I guess we'll have to wait and see if Hendrickson will pull an Anthony Barr.

I was skeptical the Jets would be able to pull this off figuring Thuney would have a world of suitors and multiple suitors would drive the price up for a Guard for a 2 win football team. Makes sense for KC to overpay here as they're in full win now mode...the Jets are in the total rebuild mode...Connecting the dots though, makes me think more and more that Darnold's gone. If you're trying to help your 4th yr QB you pay a little more for someone like Thuney even though you're a 2 win team...if you're starting over with a new QB, thinking this is a 3-4yr build, the time when Thuney would be getting released, you don't overpay for the Guard, you gamble on your draft expertise to get your base right in the next 2 years...yr 3 is when you start committing to guys like this. But, you really, really need to nail the draft as you can't subject your new coach to a 3 win team roster...can't do it

I think when you have the 2nd most cap space in the league it makes a lot more sense to shore up a position for sure than to hope you get rewarded for not doing so via a guy dropping in the draft and turning out to be a good player on top of it.

It's interesting how I see some top players' names in Free Agency and I don't even know who they are. It is odd, because I love the NFL so much and watch so many games, but then you remember that teams have 90 man rosters which means 2,880 players are in the NFL around Training Camp. Even if you only count 53 man rosters, that is still 1,696 players to know. It makes sense than fans don't know who each guy is. Even some difference makers.

    There’s a lot of space between 80-100M.
There’s also the guaranteed value which is all that matters.
100M was never a realistic scenario for Thuney.
The Chiefs made a good move to protect their biggest investment.

I was just thinking that we hadn't heard his name in a few hours. Did we get anything more than "mutual interest" reported about him?

Or an Antoine Winfield back in 2004. Guy said he had to take a leak, - ditched out the back door w/his agent & went to Republic Airport in Farmingdale to jump on a private jet sitting on the tarmac.
And it was Minnesota again that stole him.

You probably won't find someone more disappointed than me that he's not a Jet right now, but the fact that he's a Chief and not a Jaguar, Colt or Bengal kind of highlights the reality of the situation.

Keep in mind we still need to spend 89 percent of the cap over a 4 year average and considering that last year was awful low I would imagine that we will need to spend most of our cap.

Yeah I kind of disagree, I think you can find better value options than guys who agree to deals in the first couple of hours of legal tampering. There are tons of players still out there.

Yeah I looked into that further. Last year was the final year of the cycle. This is the first year of the new cycle. No urgency to spend in that regard.

The Packers wanted to keep him but could not offer him anything near what other teams were willing to pay. They had to restructure several contracts and release a couple players to get under the cap.
