I actually think Bryant on the Giants would be nasty. Odell will be on his best behavior this year as it's time for him to get paid. The Giants the same idea with Marshall last year.
CJA is the better overall player. Bottom line. And he's younger. As for Powell averaging 42 receptions, he was specifically designed to catch passes. Our team was also playing from behind plenty and in catch up mode, without much WR talent for a period of that span. Overall, while I like Powell and he is a fan favorite, he has also been relatively inconsistent year over year. He seems to go a stretch with an explosion and then otherwise benefit from game flow. In fact just last year he went a large stretch not doing much at all. He's a good player. CJA is a better player.
Thanks for your response. We'll just have to agree to disagree. I think Powell is a much better player. Powell is a much better receiver and probably blocker too in the receiving game. CJA is bigger than Powell and probably more durable in the rushing attack, and more of a power runner than Powell, but Powell brings more big plays to the table and can almost always be counted on to giver the Jets a spark. Powell knows the offense and has been a great Jet. He's on his last year with the team then will probably retire. IMO you don't treat great Jets like you advocate. That causes zero loyalty in the locker room. As I said in my initial post, if the Jets were a playoff team and Anderson was definitely better, then I could possibly see it; otherwise, it makes zero sense to me. On a rebuilding team, you don't replace a popular player who still plays at a high level with a player who is only a couple of years younger and probably wouldn't be (or shouldn't be) with the team next year anyway. I see no reason why CJA would want to sign with the Jets anyway. They're rebuilding. Tampa has a FQB and probably better team. CJA would be an instant starter there unless the Bucs drafted a RB high. He probably wouldn't even start on a the Jets, and even if he did, he'd probably get fewer touches than he would with Tampa.
A couple of small edits to help you along. If Anderson is that good why is slipping further and further down the pecking order at a team that was actually worse than us last season. From memory he started well but has steadily got worse and declined further after an injury ? Edit on double checking he had a small upturn last season in ypc and he got over 1000 yards but only 3 td's. Anyway I liked him but not sure about cutting Bilal for him, do we not do loyalty anymore ?
I mentioned him because the Jets already added a RB. That was my point. They will not add Anderson because of him.
You also have it backwards. Crowell is 25. Anderson is 27. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Isaiah_Crowell https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/C._J._Anderson Or are you referring to powell?
rawls has nothing to do with it either. he's battling for the final RB spot on the roster. I also already said I doubt we sign him. I'm simply saying I think he'd be an upgrade over Bilal and for other reasons.
Just edited last post. Realized you meant Powell. That's my bad. Crowell still does factor into this though. They won't add Anderson when they have Crowell who is younger and Rawls.
Crowell and CJA would compliment each other. McGuire and Rawls would compete for the final spot. The only reason age came up is because someone said they think CJA doesn't make sense bc of age, yet Bilal is 2 years older. Either way, like I said from step 1, I think he signs with Tampa.
