I saw somewhere that Bridgewater was told he would be signed with the knowledge a QB would be drafted. So I don't think signing him stops us from getting our QB especially is Bridgewater is signed short term
In all reality, wouldn't you want McCown on the roster as well for his mentoring alone? I guess you can go with Teddy, him, and drafted QB. Cut Petty & Hack.
If we sign Bridgewater I'd expect to go into the season with Bridgewater, Hack and a draftee. There isn't really room for Bridgewater and McCown both as bridge QB's. If Bates and Bowles really like McCown and want him in the QB room this year the QB coach slot is still open.
Cardinals and Bills need a QB also. I can see both Bridgewater and Bradford going there to mentor the traded up for QBs. Why would anyone come to the Jets unless they have no choice???
That's a good point... McCown wants to play but if he gets no offers or none that he likes maybe he would be interested.
He's primarily a vertical threat and we already have Robby Anderson. Plus an unknown QB situation. We were never picking up a bunch of offensive weapons in this year's FA class if we didn't land Cousins. Not sure why you're surprised...
Semantics. You are insisting on losing by complaining about winning games, unless the wins fall within some unrealistic criteria that you've created. How did you want the Jets to suck more? Should the coaches and players have tried less? Should less qualified people have been started? It doesn't work that way, and complaining about unrealistic 'hopes' comes across as whiny SOJF stuff to me. But the tanking argument is old and tired. We have more pressing FA issues to complain about right now...
Yeah, still early but we should sign someone big soon. Would be shocked if we don't get Butler. If Matheiu comes loose, that's another one. Signing Jensen would be big. We get those three, and we're looking good for the draft, where we can draft a QB, RB, and more OL.
If they plan on moving up in the draft for a QB, the key draft picks will almost all be gone plus next year's 1st. That's what really stings about losing Cousins imo. We'll need to really fill out roster in FA, especially if we lose some of our own. Jensen and Butler would be a nice start, plus another CB or Mathieu...also need a TE if ASJ going.
