Orlando Franklin/Iupati (if he isnt too much) Cromartie or Maxwell One OLB (although I'm interested in seeing IK get an opportunity) Matt Moore/Shaun Hill/etc. They dont need to go FA crazy this year, that rarely works anyway.
I assume Bowles wants a true FS with skills as well. I like your thoughts. We also need some speed rushing. A LB with those skills. Rex loved to blitz like Bowles but to me, we had crappy blitzers on our D. I see other teams DBs and LBs and they do a much better job go getting to the QB. Our guys were late, usually ill-timed, and they did not get through blockers.
He was a great fill in for my fantasy team in 2013 but brutal in 2014. Get him and Marshall and maybe you will have something. Honestly not a bad veteran stop gap but I feel like there are better options.
I see McCown going to Baltimore to backup Flacco, he flourished under Trestman and his true calling is a backup.
Wow, I'd take Marshall in a heartbeat. Marshall and Decker would be a fantastic combo on the outside.
Perryman is a monster. I live in south Florida so I get Hurricane news and the guy is awesome. Would be perfect at ILB to replace Harris. Ideally, we are a few talent players away and few scores away from winning 3-4 more games. If Geno can minimize turnovers and keep us in ball games, I dont see why we can't be a Wild Card contender. Imagine us adding 3-4 starters through Free Agency and perhaps 2-3 more in draft and I think it'll be very productive for growth of the team and the continued "rebuild". Marshall would be a nice addition. I'm not sure how much we would have tied up in salary for WR with adding him, but I'd imagine he would replace Harvin so it'll be Marshall, Decker, Kerley and perhaps sign Spiller to do those Harvin out of backfield plays. The ability to have options open is nice with the 6th pick overall and tons of cap space with very minimum dead weight with promising youth core makes this an exciting time to me at least...
In no particular order, I am hoping for a few of these guys: Jordan Cameron Iupati Another G (the guy from Seattle?) Brandon Marshall or Randall Cobb CJ Spiller or Vereen Revis or Byron Maxwell Justin Houston I do not want: Crabtree Julius Thomas (he wants Jimmy Graham $$$) In the draft go and get: Mariota, Amari Cooper or Melvin Gordon If there was a way we could somehow get both Cooper and Melvin Gordon without giving up too much, that would be phenomenal.
He's the definition of a journeyman. Like 10 teams in 12 years or something like that. If he can recruit Brandon Marshall though I'd reconsider.
Brandon Marshall would make me jump for freakin joy if he were to become a Jet! Not sure of the likelihood of this happening but I just love everything about this guy. Yes I know he had issues in the past but Marshall is one of may all time favorite non Jets, and just to have him wear a Jets uni would be awesome!
There are rumors that the Broncos do not want Manning back. Do we go all in on Manning or do we go with the youth movement if he is available?
I'm waiting to see if we have any interest in Brandon Marshall if he gets cut. Had an off year and he's older but could no doubt be a #1 WR. 3 year, 24 mil with a chance to cut him year 3 no penalty would be reasonable. I'd rather have Demaryius Thomas or Cobb but I'm not sure we'll get a chance to get our hands on either. I hope we draft a great WR but I think we're going Pass Rusher at 6. There's still good WRs to be had rounds 2-3 but we could address other needs like OL,CB,S, RB with a starting WR already signed.
I am just waiting for some damn news. Some headlines like "Wilkerson and Jets close to a deal" or "Jets and Harvin restructure imminent" Sheesh, I hate February in the NFL. I will watch the combine...yay
Manning told the Broncos yesterday he's coming back. Even if he weren't coming back he would retire. Even if he didn't retire... No thanks. Either way this isn't even an option.
My list for this year (at this point): QB Ryan Mallett $3 mil / yr + lots of incentives QB Colt McCoy $1.5 mil / yr + lots of incentives RB Jacquizz Rogers $2.5 mil / yr FB John Kuhn $1.5 mil / yr WR Torrey Smith $4.8 mil / yr TE Jermaine Gresham $4 mil per yr TE Lance Kendricks $2.5 mil per yr OG Stefen Wisnewski $3 mil / yr OLB Brian Orakpo $8.5 mil / yr CB Antonio Cromartie $7.5 mil / yr S LaRon Landry $3 mil / yr K Matt Bryant $2 mil / yr These guys could solve a lot of problems leaving us cap space to extend our core guys and some flexibility in the draft.
Rams reportedly sticking with Sam Bradford. I figured that I would post it here. Not sure what this guys chances of being cut were, but I know a lot here were looking for the Jets to go out and get him. I honestly think unless we go for someone in the draft, there might not anyone that isn't marginally better than Geno Smith in free agency. Matt Moore anyone? http://www.nfl.com/news/story/0ap3000000470580/article/st-louis-rams-sticking-with-sam-bradford
Please not Matt Moore I'd rather roll with Geno. It's not like he's a potential franchise QB who never had his shot..just another backup that I'm not sure is any better than Vick.
think we have to go for either Matt Moore or Fitzpatrick. neither inspire a lot of confidence. but they also won't cost a ton, and can effectively start this season if need be, and i think need will be. we can't go into this season with Geno Smith as the uncontested starter.
