I've been so disconnected from the NFL draft this year for the first time in a long time. I think it's because I see us taking Fournette. Fournette hurts his hamstring in preseason. Doesn't play til week 6. Is unimpressive. Starts bitching. Disappointment his whole career, couple lower 1,000 yard years but nothing spectacular. And we wasted a top 10 pick in a very good draft on a player I've been extremely against. Life of a Jets fan. Hope I'm wrong.
he played in 3 of the first six games last season. in those three games he had 386 yards rushing on 5.8 ypc while nursing an injury ... "unimpressive" 1953 rushing yards, with 6.5 ypc, and 22 touchdowns as a sophomore in the sec ... "disappointing" was clocked at 22.9 mph against ole miss ... "nothing spectacular" if you dont like his prospects, present valid reasons #FakeNews
not that its an indicator of nothing but as a leonard fournette suporter ,cook really suprised me 4th among running backs on the bench press 25 reps the dude is stronger then it looks .
I prefer cook ....BUT this draft is pretty loaded with secondary and outside LB's. Now one can argue we should take the RB at 6 and then worry about those defensive positions in rounds 2 and 3. I could warm up to that but not yet. I think we can "get by" at that position in 2017 while securing a different position at #6 - possible WR, possibly QB, or if possible, dangle the pick and see who wants to trade up. How many QB's selected in the top 5 will dictate a lot.
After waiting and waiting on a WR in the deep WR draft of 2014, I no longer believe you postpone drafting a position just because of depth at that position. I'm a BPA supporter, and if the BPA is also a position of need, i.e. secondary & OLB, you don't get cute and hope to land a lesser player at that position later.
Maybe this is actually a plus: Mayock is "alarmed" and "puzzled" over Fournette coming in at 240 and only jumping 28 1/2" Vertical. To me this is an example where the "experts" "lose the forest for the trees", and get hung up on raw numbers. If you watch tape of Fournette, ask yourself: "Is 240 pounds and not being able to leap over tall buildings really going to hold him back?" How high do you think Kin Kong jumped? In contrast to Mayock, five or six Pro scouts/GMs/Coaches at the Combine said they weren't worried at all by his numbers. Fournette at 6, still.
INSANE at 240 pounds, Fournette runs just as fast and jumps just as high as Cook. Cook had a 30.5" vertical / Fournette 28.5" --- I might be sold on Fournette after all ... really wish Mixon was at this combine, I think he's the 2nd best RB in this draft over Cook.
Some think he won't get drafted at all cause of what happened before. I think he will be drafted before the 4th.
When you look at the analysis tape of Mixon you see where he's not as polished according to what was reviewed. He's definitely a value pick in the 3rd or 4th round.
Rather have Mixon over Cook. Mixon has the best hands out of any running back in this draft. Due to him knocking that chick out, he's going to fall, but if that never happened he would be drafted in the first 2 rounds. The guy makes 1 handed catches, has the speed to run around you and the power to run through you. Being polished, I don't think is a big deal when you are as talented as Mixon. Plus, he doesn't have much wear and tear in comparison to the other RBs. I don't even want to draft Cook at 6, huge pass.
You would have to think Cook is something special to take him at 6. If you think Kamara is just as good you could probably have him in the 2nd round. Cook is a home run threat. Joe Mixon is good but he is also a bitch. He also doesn't play top teams. I think Cook is special and worth a top 15 pick easy. But if the Jets feel they can get just as good of value with a RB later than it makes no sense to take him at 6. 1. Fournette/Cook 2. Kamara 3. Mixon
Mixon with 3rd Rd comp pick sounds so much better than Fournette/Cook at 6. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
