Paragraph 1. Fingerprint safety lock Paragraph 2. I agree Paragraph 3. Totally disagree. Jail is not a real deterrent bc no one commits a crime thinking they'll be caught. See: war on drugs crack sentencing.
Paragraph 1: maybe your state is regulated but not all are. http://www.texasgunlaws.org Paragraph 2: As I mentioned people are frustrated by the lack of sane laws and are lashing out. Paragraph 3: No I don't. I think it has to do with (as usual) the lobbyists.
so why is it that a manufacturer should be liable for a properly functioning gun but not a properly functioning pool? because people are frustrated? cool.
Are we all answering our own questions now? I guess we are. Am I saying the gun manufacturer should be sued? No I'm not Am I saying that there needs to be some sensical regulations put in place? I am Am I saying that people that say "putting sensical regulations in place is the first step to the gvt taking away guns" are paranoid and standing in the way of a solution? Yes I am
If the gun lobby won't allow for sensical laws then I believe the people should apply pressure until those laws are passed. If those pressures include lawsuits then so be it. But gvt is all about compromise. Since basic laws can't be passed maybe someone needs to propose all guns be banned under all circumstances and then sensical laws can be the compromise. You can keep your guns and the public can get their national laws and regulations.
ahh ... love those "sensical laws". they are always the answer. but let's not punish the hell out of people caught with illegal guns. smh Banning all guns is what the left really wants anyway. That's why they're always referencing Australia.
Not as crazy sounding as the poster that claims that all democrats sit around thinking of ways to keep poor people poor but not far off.
I don't think it makes much sense to whine about gun laws if you're against strong punishments for people who are found with illegal guns. it would have prevented the tragedy the thread is about. but please, let's discuss things that wouldn't have helped. mandatory training. that's the ticket.
You really think strong punishments are a deterrent? No one breaks a law assuming that they'll get caught. If harsh punishment detered criminals there would be no such thing as crack.
no, I think people in prison can't shoot people in the general public. please read the thread you're bastardizing.
Since there is no standard for registering guns including the resale of, it is easy for a criminal to get a gun. So I guess I am talking about things that would help prevent shootings. Unlike "the government wants to regulate guns in the first step to making them illegal"... Because that's productive
People in prison can't shoot people out of prison? Well that's genius. So I guess no one will shoot someone twice? That's reassuring.
I just love he fact that you think showering in public restrooms is normal or possibly that young kids and adults Goto the same gym. Do you often find young boys where you shower?
i mean, if this guy who shot will smith had been in prison for the illegal gun he was caught with will smith would probably still be alive. instead, he walked, went and bought another gun and killed someone. the law was in place to prevent will smiths murder, too bad for him we don't really like to hold people accountable.
Then he would have shot will smith in 10 years bc as you say he just walked and bought a gun. If you want to have huge penalties for gun possession, I'm fine with that. There are currently huge federal minimums if you're caught with a gun while commuting a felony (let's face it lots of illegal gun owners commit other felonies). If I'm ok with tougher sentences for people who illegally possess guns would you be ok with a national gun registry?
sure, the gun dealer has all the gun info when the gun is purchased, i really don't care where that info goes after the purchase. i am a legal law abiding gun owner. how is a gun registry going to effect me? only caveat being, any gun registered can never be declared illegal down the road and confiscated.
Looks like we've come to a consensus. Let's alert the media that compromises can still me made that makes everyone happy. But for clarification... If I own a registered gun. Then I commit a felony. Traditionally I am no longer allowed to own a gun. Are you saying that I should still be able to keep my gun or are you speaking more about a type of gun being legal today but illegal tomorrow?
