What, Tory Woodbury, Marquell Blackwell, and Ray Lucas don't float your boat?

You could look at it how you wish, but as for me, I do not recognize Blackwell as a black QB who played for the Jets. If a guy did not play in a regular season or postseason tilt for the Jets, then he didn't play for the Jets. In other words, preseason-only does not float my boat.

Jones was the 8th black man in NFL/AFL history to play quarterback.

    1. Fritz Pollard, 1923 Pros
    2. Willie Thrower, 1953 Bears
    3. George Taliaferro, 1953 Colts
    4. Charlie Brackins, 1955 Packers
    5. Marlin Briscoe, 1968 Broncos (converted to WR; led AFC in receptions and yards in '70)
    6. James Harris, 1969-71 Bills, 1973-76 Rams, 1977-79 Chargers
    7. Joe Gilliam, 1972-75 Steelers
    8. J.J. Jones, 1975 Jets

I know, and I don't really count him either, but I haven't been around that much, and I forgot about Quincy Carter, so cut me some slack. Figured I'd throw out a name and see who remembered him.

Did Woodbury ever play for us anywhere? I know he got switched to WR.

we have had plenty of black qb's on the JETS roster, they just played QB in college or HS and switch pos once they got to the pro's.

    :)

And now we got a brown QB.

He played in a total of 12 games over the 2001 and 2002 seasons. He caught a pass in the Jacksonville game in '02. I don't remember him taking any snaps as a quarterback during a regular season game. If he did it would have only been a handoff because he did not throw any passes and was never sacked.

How come the helmet was all white with no Jets logo? No. 66 must have been Randy Rasumussen.

66 is Rasmussen. I think the St. Louis player is Ron Yankowski.

In the 1970s and 1980 and 1981, Topps did not have the rights to reproduce team logos on their cards. As a result, many of the Topps cards in that era were of players posing for pictures at practice without their helmets. Many of the cards were action shots, however. For these cards, Topps airbrushed the logos. There are some really crazy looking cards from the 1970s. The all-time classic might be a John Hadl card after he was traded from L.A. to Green Bay. The color of his uniform was slightly adjusted from Rams colors to Packers colors. The picture was taken during the Rams-Patriots game of '74. The funniest thing about the card is that a non-player was also airbrushed. You can't really tell if the person is a coach or ref, but he was airbrushed to make it look like he was wearing a Patriots uniform.

The Rams, in the late 70s/early 80s at least, were the one team in which Topps wouldn't bother trying to airbrush the entire logo. As you can see in this 1981 Willie Miller card, Topps only airbrushed the end of the horn design near the earholes.

Kelly can come up with some off the hook stats and thats a great card no matter how much he sucked at QB. Let him rest in peace.

P.S. I still think Kelly is hot. And a JET fan
