^Excellent to hear. He'll room with Sanchez for a few days which will be the best situation. Every coach talks about how he's at the training facility every day.
And Rex has been quoted as saying that Sanchez is a gym rat; McKnight gets a roomie who is not just a college buddy, but will take him to work out every day and give him a professional football mentality. And the whiners on this thread will be metaphorically sucking his cock come September.
I really like hearing the phrase "we can't even chase him out of the building" used to describe our franchise QB.
McKnight says a stomach virus, nerves, the hot weather and being out of shape led to his embarrassing first impression. He vomited 20 minutes into his first NFL practice, but is saying all the right things now. Voluntarily working out next week can't hurt. I hope this guy stay in NJ and doesn't go back to CA and gets in better shape for the next camp.
One thing I really like about McKnight (and our RBs in general) is that he has really good vision. That's a skill that I think is really underrated in a RB. It doesn't matter how fast you are if you run into a wall.
Yeah, and he's decisive off that first read. Hopefully he quickly builds the same kind of faith he had in his OL at USC. That'll be key to maintaining his quick decision making. It was actually a rather underrated aspect of TJ's game. McKnight's quickness makes that trait even more invaluable.
I was going to quote the same thing It's quite disheartening that he is so out of shape for this mini camp but it sounds like he cares and actually wants to put in the effort to be good. So i Guess you take the good with the bad
Seems like this isn't an isolated incident with players becoming climatized to the pace of the NFL...so I revise my stand and chalk it up to "NFL Culture Shock." He should be fine once he adjusts to the NFL Game.
One of my buddies was an equipment guy with the Jets for two seasons, one being Leon's first season in the league. He told me a story a while back about Leon yakking his first day in practice and just reminded me about it today. Rather ironic considering McKnight is the guy we picked up to replace Leon. And clearly, we saw how badly puking affected Leon's career...
It's just funny that the guy we replaced Leon with yakked on his first day, just like Leon did on his first day.
I once threw my guts up on the first day of a new job as well, but that was because I'd been drinking for about twelve hours solid the previous day.
