I didn't say he was worthless, I said he had a long way to go. How does that not allow for improvement?

There is so much wrong with the above statement... Those rbs are more talented? Ask the Giants fans who they rather have, Bradshaw or Greene? If your not a homer, Greene is the easy choice. Also they are more talented, are you a scout, there agent lol? I do think again the grass is GREENEr on the other side of the fence...

I don't think you understand ground and pound philosophy. Getting positive yards is not a big thing to you, but breaking 5 tackles and taking a 2 yards loss is. Again breaking tackles is nice and fun but don't indicate much abt a player and his effectivness.

I do like stats but I like performance way better, I think breaking tackles is nice visually but does it matter if you scored a 20 yard td untouched? In the grand scheme of things getting positive yards, first downs, and touchdowns are important. Not juking ability. Our would rather have someone who is flashy, breaks tackles, but does not get positive yards? That stat is not useful, there is so much wrong with that stat.

Also plz don't say that teams passing game is complimentary, bcuz we have no passing game.

Finally talent? Football is not based on talent alone or else Jamarcus Russell, David Boston, and Vernon Gholston would be having hof careers. Performing on the football field when it counts, getting positive yards, winning a los, winning top, etc are all part ground and pound not breaking tackles, and only having talent.

How am I a homer if I dont think Greene is as talented/good as them??? I would say you are being the homer here.

I dont think one has to be a scout or agent to understand talent? No one in our draft section is one so should no one tell their opinion on a prospect’s talent?

At this point its just beating a dead horse, because you think Greene is something he is not. I cant argue with that. Greene is at best an average runner, and he will never be anything more than that; and on a ground and pound team, that doesnt really suffice.

One huge reason why our offense was putrid last year was because there was absolutely no dynamic/game changing/large chunk plays. With out those, its hard to win games. Period. Our offense relies on the run game, and if our run game isnt going to pick up any of the large chunk plays, then the offense is going to be stagnant. Broken tackles, speed, burst, agility all lead to these kind of plays and Greene does not excel in any of those.

Obviously you are fine with 2,4,5,3,4,1, ect. yard runs, but in order for this NY Jets offense to get rolling, we are going to need bigger chunks than that.

We need an explosive element to our offense. Greene will NOT give you that.

I think Greene is an underperformer but not becaue of talent. He clearly has great talent and can break off big runs. His problem is he likes to lay big hits on opponents and he's the one breaking down.

I think Greene has everything you want talent wise, what I think the real issue is he doesn't work hard and he can't stay on the field because of it.

I firmly believe the Powell pick last year was a bad attempt to light a fire under him. The fact that Powell can't play threw water on that fire.

I think you misread again... I never called you a homer, was referring to asking a giants fan who would they rather want Bradshaw/ Greene and unless your a homer (blind giants fan), the answer would be Greene.

I agree were beating a dead horse bcuz you seem to think gaining positive yards consistently, running for over a 1000 yards, and not fumbling in a season is just average.

Also he averages 4.2 ypc according to your numbers above you got it wrong. Last time I checked gaining over 4 ypc gets you a first down, keeps the clock moving, tires out a defense, and gives your defenders a breather.

Finally I hope my rb doesn't need to break many tackles bcuz that would mean my offense its blocking well.

I don't think he is a top 5 back either. My point is we don't know what we have in him. If he goes the whole year without being injured, he could be top 5 yardage back based solely on his attempts.

My point is we do not know if he is or isn't. I also don't think he is a top 5 back.

Not to ruffle any feathers, I read it as you calling him a homer. I believe you should take the time to re-read your post before you post.

I say this because I used to post what was on my mind, and it didn't come out the way I was thinking. Still do, but re-reading helps.

That was a response to LAX, unless you and him are the same. I also appreciate the part abt re-reading bcuz it is true. As matter of fact I went and re-read it and I could see how you think im calling him a homer, but if you focus on the wording that im going to put in caps it might help, bcuz I dont think he is a giants fan. This is a direct copy of what I wrote:

ASK THE GIANTS FANS who they rather have, Bradshaw or Greene? If your not a homer, Greene is the easy choice.

So when I say YOUR that is referring to the Giants fan being a homer. Instead of YOUR I should of wrote, "IF THEY ARE NOT A HOMER."

    Thanks

those teams have nothing to do with us. if sanchez could do what rodgers, stafford and brees do.. then fine, greene is more than adequate. but that's not our offense.

i think greene not losing yards has a lot to do with our offensive line more than greene himself. but either way.. i think we agree on him not being anything special.

if you think his greatest strengths are not fumbling, not losing yards and being young.. then i guess i have to agree. he is undoubtedly our #1 rb, not because he's that good but because our other options are question marks.

i think a fully healthy bradshaw is more talented than a fully healthy greene. but bradshaw is never healthy. though his 2010 season was better than greene's 2011, both given a similar amount of carries. i don't think it's an easy decision.. but i'd probably lean towards greene because bradshaw's foot seems to be in danger of falling off every year.

i think you're confusing breaking tackles as something that is only done in the backfield. i don't know why else you would keep equating breaking tackles and juking to negative yardage. if the rb is trying to break tackles behind the los, then there's not much blame to put on the rb.

you keep comparing greene to this imaginary rb that has this godlike ability to break tackles but constantly loses 2 yards every time he manages to do so. why are my only choices between greene and a guy who averages -2.0 ypc?

greene does not break tackles anywhere on the field. so once he reaches the second level, he is immediately brought down. he's just not a threat to break off a big run. he doesn't run over people. he's not shifty. he's not fast. he can't catch. as a rb, he has no standout ability.

i don't think greene is a negative on the field. he's just not the guy i want this offense to rely on.

This and you’re other post are right on. This guy is just not understanding the fact that Greene is nothing special- he has no special ability that separates him from any other RB, and when you consider a GnP team, its not ideal by any means.

Sparano will give the ball to the Terminator more this year. I can see John getting 3-5 carries a game. Even more in some games, plus he can catch the ball too.

Can't wait till he catches the ball in the flat, gets up a head of steam, and a DB comes up and tries to tackle him.

    DB will be 'terminated'.

i'd be shocked to see conner get that many carries a game. i don't think he can catch either.

i'd rather see him blow people up without the ball.
