So you didn't see improvement in the Jets when the 2 years previous to Herm we missed the playoffs then we made including a div title in his first 2 years?
As I said Jay you either got or you do not. A Larry Byrd comes along once in a lifetime. I understand that you like JV & you are impressed with his ROTY honor but so far he is not shown me that he can dominate at his position. As MLB is a very, very important position we have to either have JV elevate his game by a WHOLE lot or we have to upgrade otherwise we will be on the same merry go round we were with you know who. I wish to cite you a example my son was the NJ state math champion. He has also won math contests after math contest which means he was born with a gift that nobody else had when he was in school. That is the you have it or not theroy. Why has nobody batted 400 since Ted W cause nobody has been born with the ability to do it yet? The same you got it or not theroy. Why can 1 person be a chessmaster & the other cannot even understand the game. There is you got it or not theroy again. Understand I am not anti any NYJ players just pointing out weakness I see that if we are ever going to be elite we will have to do something about. If what I posted is harsh sorry but that is the way the world works. No difference then a guy making 7 figures per year & another guy working for Mickie Ds
Upi got that quite right. Akso if you used your common sense you would not be asking silly questions like you are
As usual you can't get an answer out of you. I give you credit, you do a great job of what you do and that's essentially getting people up in arms about diff topics. You never offer any views just negativity to push buttons. I try to ignore you but at times it gets difficult.
Well he did manage to alienate at least one of his staunchest supporters at the beginning of this thread. Nice work!
There's something to be said about Stats or W/L records and people who overly abuse them without analyzing the meat and potatoes.. I saw a team treading water... A decent team with a lot of left over talent Making moves I was staunchly against but, was still competitive and could get to the playoffs depending upon health and the competition... I never saw a BUILDING UP of a Championship team.... I saw them stumble out of the blocks - I saw the Run defense embarrasingly atocious at times.... I saw Up and Down years that yeah, ended with a some playoff games and some success.... I saw a HC who never really improved from day 1 - I saw a team drastically change systems on both sides of the ball with veteran players and then sit and wonder out loud why the Herm Cover 2 / Hybrid Cotrell defense couldn't improve... And then changes again... I want to see a lot more... The NFL is full of parity the past 10 years, I'm not overly impressed with what I call treading water... I fear for KC fans when the day comes Herm is in a position to make a Field level call.... I'd expect the team to prevent that from happening at all costs and have coordinators take care of EVERYTHING other than motivation....
They left a team that had just choked away the end of the 2000 season and was only in contention b/c they had a few miracle wins earlier that year. They ended winning 3 of 9 their last 9 games. It was a franchise headed downward then year 1 they finish winning 7 of 10 and make the playoffs, year 2 they make the div rd and are very much in the Oak game in the 4th qtr, in yr 4 were a missed kick from the AFC Title Game. We played in the toughest div in the NFL w/ a dynasty team in it which the previous regime did not have to worry about. To say we didn't improve is simply untrue. You didn't see parcells' teams stumble out of the blocks? They were 1-2 in '97, 0-2 in '98 and 1-6 in '99. Would you rater start 6-1 and miss the playoffs like we did w/ Groh or start 2-5 and win the div like we did w/ Herm? I have never called Herm a great coach but he did a very good job here as did TB, we definitely improved from when they took over.
Before I read another anything further, why would a fan follow a former Coach anywhere in the first place?! If he isn't with my team anymore, vaya con Dios. Unless it's Parcells. I'd follow that guy anywhere. With a dumptruck. And then hit the accelerator. Now that's a treat. EDIT: I had to go scope out my favorite Dumptruckus Operandi.
Dunno. Probably the same place I dug up... I've been doing that like crazy lately. Double posting, other nonsense. What the frig?!
I was referring to your system for picking playoff and/or SB teams and saying when you feel a team has a shot of making it. So far you're system still sucks, as does your player evalaution. You've said the Jets have no quality players yet we do have a future hall of famer on the team and we have guys who've been to the pro bowl, but that doesn't seem to work in your "system". Funny how the only one calling us jokes is you who by everyone's standard's and systems is far from a "quality player"
I should clarify for those who don't know or understand champ: "misinformation" = utilizing FACTS and LOGIC
You are all wasting time with this guy. He obviously thrives on dislike. When someone like JayWayne does his level best to agree with him, and say he finds him worthwhile, charming Mr. Champ dumps on him anyway for not agreeing enough.
HAH! Champ: "I got a haircut." jaywayne: "I like it." Champ: "So what you're saying is that it makes my freakin' nose look ten times bigger!" jaywayne: "Um, n-o-o-o, I think it takes off ten years. And you lost some weight, too. Good for you." Champ: "So I was this old, nasty, fat slob before, just waiting to die. Now I see clearly, you "Underrated Poster" b*stard!!" jaywayne: "I...what?"
Herm wasn't a great coach... he was good. I like the direction teh franchise is going now... Mangini & Tannenbaum will lead this team to a competive level in 2-3 years, and playoffs/Championship game in 4, and a Super Bowl in 6 if they are both still around (asuming the Jets can resign Mangini before another team tries to get at him...)
Right. That's the way I would put it, anyway, and others, too. Right after he snuck away and left a bad taste in people's mouths, a surprisingly high percentage who participated in a poll on this site gave him Bs, I think a majority. That translates into what you say, good but not great. He had some good seasons, and alone among Jets coaches didn't suffer from the December syndrome. He instilled basics well, and gave players like Chad and JAbe and Vilma developmental opportunities despite a propensity for favoring older talent. Unfortunately, he wasn't exactly Mr. January and also had a schticky act that grew old. I think he did well with the Jets, but it was clear he was a veterans' coach on an aging team, and the change will probably do both him and us good. Maybe he has learned from his mistakes, I wouldn't be surprised to see him perform well at KC. I won't be paying much attention, though, because that's not my team.
LOL, it's right out of "Goodfellas," I swear: "I'm just saying you're funny, that's all." "What, so now I'm a clown, I amuse you!"
