Meaning that a great player has the ability to see a play & react immediately to it not 5 or more yards downfield. Compare it to a chessmaster & a non chessmaster. A great player would be the chessmaster & JV would be the non chessmaster. Now do you get it?
Champ, some of us like what you say. Its pretty hard to defend you when you throw the word dense around, especially when Chadwick makes some good points. You need to chill out a bit with the borderline attacks. I realize people go after you for no reason at all sometimes but this guy didnt. Take it easy buddy.
He doesn't say anything so how could you like what he says? He has a few sentences he repeats over and over and that's it. He's fun for some comedy now and then but never gets into any real discussions, when asked to actually discuss things he always just returns the same boring lines. I don't dislike Champ, again I think he's funny at times but at other times he is just an annoyance.
Anything you say is just plain flat out BS since all you have been doing for 5 years is feed everyone on this board misinformation
When you call someone dense...I dont understand why the board has to sink to that point. Whats wrong with with calling someone wrong..or that you disagree. Champ, Im not pointing out just you. I believe that when attacked....and I have been attacked a couple times, go for the gusto....never let anyone get away with it. Just that Chadwick was stating his opinion...and you comeback with "are you dense". Hey, one persons opinion...Im not here to tell people how to act.
This is what Im talking about by the way. Forget about you for a second. This board has some people that when disagreeing...come back with "what are you an idiot?". I have even seen people respond this way to you. I dont get it. If someone responds like that to me.....hey, many people disagree with some of the things I say...I think thats great. Just not into calling people dense.
Yes I agree dense was a poor choice of words. However, I can not understand how a supposed FB mavin would think JV is productive when the majority of his tackles was 5 or more yards D/field. Oh well I guess my standards are higher the others on this board is all I cam attribute it to.
I call it the "safe" ground. I still find it funny that we have went from one HC on OJT to another HC on OJT. The Jets could just declare themselves a HC training ground. And even funnier is that a LOT of folks around here are happy about it.
I agree. He didnt have many high impact plays...negative yardage etc. With that said, that could be a product of his front line. He did have more of an impact in his rookie year with higher profile plays. The way I look at the whole defense...they all get byes going into this year...they all start fresh. I think the team was poorly trained (more of a reflection on the Oline and Dline...with all the muscle tears and injuries...you wonder how much of that had to do with the soft coaching staff). I want to see Ellis....Robertson etc...I want to see them play after a preseason of workouts...lifting..being in better condition because this coaching staff will not tolerate anything less. Thats pretty much a given.
Remember the more DeW works the more his knee aches. You maybe more generous then I am concerning a bye. I am a firm believer either you got it from the onset or you do not. Maybe harsh but I would say that is 99% the way it turns out. Sought of like a concert pianist & others who cannot play a piano at all. JV IF he had the ability to break down plays he would have been far more a playmaker since he did not after 2 seasons U have to say he is lacking in that department. Many "experts" have commented that his pass defense skills are quite weak. When you factor in that most tackles are D/field you wind up with at least to my standards is average at best player surely not destined for HOF consideration.
Yep that's exactly right. I mean what Jetzz is implying is like saying "I hope the Jets don't draft a QB with no NFL experience, because look what happened when they played Bollinger who also had no NFL experience"
Just have to keep those fingers & toes crossed that EM is far better evulator of talent then Mr. Herm was as he is the selector now of any players secured by us.
He is off to a good start so far this offseason which is more then I could ever say for Herm. Of course this draft is supremely important and we likely won't be able to judge the results of it for a year or two.
Well I still see a lot more deadwood to go but by cutting Fabini he sent a message there are no more sacred cows on this team which gives him green marks. But, yes I would say his approach appears to be well thought out & he also appears to have a vision of where he expects this team to be in 2/3 years down the road. Sought of like a business plan of the future which is certainly miles ahead of Herm
Herm was over his head. We don't know yet if EM is over his head, but I think most of us can agree that Herm was. So with that as a basic premise, you can always hope. EM either turns out as clueless as Herm was or he somehow exhibits a faster learning curve and turns out better than Herm was. I like the odds on that.
Don't get me wrong, 3rd. I'm not against rolling the dice on a new guy like this, but it is a gamble. More so that they are bringing in a number of people who are rookies at their positions. I'm a bit more cautious and am going to have to be more patient about their success. Patient about their success. Something I'm pretty sure about 85% of this board won't have. lol
