Just out of curiousity, you think Kurt Warner is going to make it into the HOF? I think he might not, but should.
he didn't play very long, he only was a primary starter for 8 seasons, only played 16 games 3 times, only played 3/4 of games 5 times. He had that incredible start, then had some injuries and wasted some prime years in SL and w/ NYG then didn't really become full time starter until 3rd year w/ Ari. many prime years were wasted.
Kurt Warner is deserving of the Hall of Fame because you can't tell the story of the NFL from 1999 to 2001 without bringing him up. He was that important over those 3 years. He was a 2 time 1st Team All-Pro and he won a Super Bowl and played in another. He's a very good comp for Joe Namath in that a few years of his career should have been (and was in the case of Namath) enough to seal the deal and establish his fame. He's good for the Hall just for being a great QB who packed groceries for a few years before he made it in the NFL.
He actually played in three, and has the three highest yardage totals in SB history. I think he definitely should get in.
he is nothing like Joe Namath, they aren't comparable in any way. The Hall is not about nice stories, it's about the best and most important players. Kurt is an all time great QB, Joe is an all time important figure in the history of the game. Both belong but for very different reasons.
The Rams were a complete disaster when he took over and he led them to 2 SB apps and 1 SB win The Cardinals were the biggest joke in the sport and he led them to a SB that alone should get a guy in the Hall
If it's me, I put him in the Hall of Fame. For a period he was far and away the best QB in football and leading the most dynamic offense in the NFL and then for another brief period he was one of the best. His body of work with the Rams and the Cards gets him in--had he won that last SB with the Cards I don't think there'd even be a discussion. _
Yeah, go ask Marshall Faulk how he feels about that. It's amazing how the cheating scumPats have effected so many moments in football. _
he wasn't cheated out of anything, he had a chance to win and he and his team failed to do so. I think he belongs in the Hall but don't throw a pick 6 in the 2 SB losses and he likely has 3 SB titles.
Yeah I'd love to hear Mike Martz's honest opinion of it also. I think he gave it and then retracted it and took the high road, not sure about that tho.
That's a great analogy Brad. I think Namath's early career and Warner's Ram career parallel quite nicely. Namath was perpetually injured and never got his second chance that Warner got with the Cards. But the greatest AFL QB of All Time and Warner leading the Greatest Show on Turf? Yeah, that's spot on. I can't imagine what Namath would have done on artificial turf. _
I think Martz wasn't happy that Warner and Faulk got most of the credit for the Greatest Show on Turf. I think he really thought he could plug Marc Bulger in and have things stay breezy. Then he found out that Warner and Faulk were the people most responsible for the Greatest Show on Turf.
