Years ago, I worked in Ft. Lee. I used to eat lunch down the road a bit at a drive restaurant. They specialized in deep fried hot dogs. Been trying to find deep fried Jersey hot dogs ever since without success..

Anybody got some info? Sure would appreciated it..

Sounds like Rutt’s Hut, but I’m not sure the geography lines up. Maybe. Depending on how far is “down the road”.

We specialize in Cancer out here in York, PA. 3 mile Island and the Susquehanna River might have something to do with it..

I think this was the place. Many Thanks!.. Going to a Saltwater Fishing Expo in Edison in a few weeks and I'm thinking about making a special trip there for old times' sake. :)

Apparently we used to go there on Sunday after church when I was little. But I don't remember of that.

Totally not worth it to go that far out of the way, but for can’t say one can put a price on sentimentality…but you are talking about an hour+ out of the way for an ok hot dog…

You know of anything closer to Edison? I'm coming in on I-78 so I'll be a good bit north anyway.

Are specifically looking for deep fried hot dogs? Not sure if anything like that around there as I think those are primarily a north Jersey thing, but there’s a lot of good places to eat around Edison and New Brunswick depending on what your itchin’ for. Great Indian food around there if you like Indian.

Well, I know there's a famous Deli not far from the Expo Center in Edison. Was planning on perhaps a dinner there. If not, I would be getting one of their huge Pastrami's on Jewish Rye to take home.

Harold’s is the place I’m assuming, solid option right near the convention center.

Yep... That's the place alright.. Was about 5 years ago I was there. My Stepson and his wife own a home about 90mins south of there so we'll spend the night with them before heading back to PA.

Epilogue: Ate at Harolds and skipped the Hotdog run. Insane amounts of food being served there. Got 3 meals out of the Short Rib order. Forgot to order a Pastrami to go.. :)

Sounds awesome, you didn’t miss out on anything with the hot dog run…Harold’s is a much better option anyway.
