You know it's a bad idea when Pete Crisco likes it " Peyton Manning would be an awesome GM — he knew every player in the league in detail in terms of scouting when he played. Jets would be lucky if they landed him — Pete Prisco (@PriscoCBS) May 18, 2019 "
ugh not sure......technically he has no front office experience...i wouldn't mind the hire IF the johnson also hired someone WITH front office experience to hold his hand so to say. regardless of who is hired the gase man is calling the shots. maybe, just maybe he is a junior belichek. LLOOOLLL. BTW - one of u computer nerds get a picture of bud abbott....looks like gase was cloned from him.
I don't think Joe would want that much responsibility or want to spend that much time at his age, but I think he has a lot of knowledge that could be tapped.
It's kind of tragic that Joe Namath is still the "face" of the NY Jets. Tragic in that after 50 years, not one player has managed to match his accomplishment. I love Joe...always will...but c'mon...
Casserly doesn't like Peyton. That's all I need to hear. Hire the beast! https://profootballtalk.nbcsports.c...ot-a-supporter-of-peyton-manning-to-the-jets/
Casserly lost all credibility when he bashed Kyler Murray for not being prepared for the interview process at the combine and it was then reported he works for a firm that prepares players for the interviews. He shown himself to be nothing but a self serving little scum and will bash anyone the jets hire because we shit canned his guy.
Casserly lost all credibility when he gave our GM job to his incompetent buddy. But I agree that he's nothing but a self serving little scum.
That certainly is one big plus that Peyton has in his column. I still don't want him running the franchise, but if we're going to continue to stink up the joint anyway, it wouldn't be the worst thing in the world to hire him to spite Casserly. Perhaps we should have Casserly draw up a list of guys who he thinks should NEVER be NFL GMs and then select somebody from that list.
100% agreement with you here(been awhile lol) The guy is the ultimate competitor and just wouldn’t stand for the incompetence that we have seen for far too long as Jets fans. Forgetting about his immense football knowledge the guy would bring instant respect to the organization, like we haven’t seen since the Parcells days. It’s a great thought but just don’t see this as a realistic possibility unfortunately. I also think Douglas can be a great hire and seems to be much more likely.
And I agree 100% with this (See? It IS possible!). Peyton would be great for the reasons you note; the Jets won't hire because...Jets.
Would it change your perception if his title was President or VP of Operations instead? In other words put Peyton in place of the Johnsons in making strategic organizational decisions.
