Joe Willie's above post nails it, as do JetIn2004's posts. Both offer excellent positions and I couldn't have said it better. For the sake of full disclosure, let it be known I live in central Jersey, within 40 minutes of Florham Park, and for that reason I'm obviously ecstatic about the move. Having said all that, I'm calling on everyone to stop trouncing the NY guys over this. I mention Joe Willie's post and JetIn2004's posts because they convey what needs be said without dancing all over the emotions of our fellow Jets fans. We're all Jets fans. I can't see ever not being a Jets fan, no matter where they are in the NY metropolitan area. If they moved lock, stock and barrel to Connecticut, I'd still be a NY Jets fan. I've been to TC at Hofstra, it was a very pleasant experience. I liked the atmoshere there and I can understand what the Queens/Long Islanders are going through... first the stadium, now the facility. They're losing it all. I expect the camp this year to be even more crowed than ever, probably because local people will want to take their kids there for what may be the final time. I'll drive there too, and it'll take me at least 4-5 hours of round-trip driving time because of traffic and the time of day in which I have to make the drive. I met others there last summer from Jersey too, so it's not impossible to do... something the NY guys might want to consider. The Star-Ledger mentioned that the Jets are also entertaining the possibility of hosting Football Camps for youngsters at the new facitility. I may be interested in enrolling my grandson, so that's a plus for the new place too. But I take no pleasure in hammering Jets fans from NY right now. They're going through a lesser version of the trauma caused when the Brooklyn Dodgers took off for California. It was the end of the world for Dodgers fans, including one 12-year old Brooklyn Dodgers boy who happened to live in New Jersey (me). Well, it wasn't the end of the world exactly... it was actually worse. I actually stopped being a baseball fan over it! Could never bring myself to root for the Mets and sure as hell hated the Yankees, and that was the end of that. Had the Dodgers stayed in the NY area, I'd still be a Dodgers fan today, but I'm sure as hell not rooting for any California team once they made the move, so baseball completely bores me now. It's not even the same sport it once was for me. So let's have a little compassion for our fellow NY Jets fans on this, that's all I'm saying. There's a lot of emotion flying around and who can blame them? This isn't the time for us Jersey guys on the board to be kicking our fellow fans while they're down.
ACCORDING TO NEWSDAY The Jets will remain at Hofstra this season but will leave within a year or two. Jets select NJ home base To exit Hofstra in 2007 or 2008 for headquarters about 30 miles from NYC SO MAYBE UNTIL 2008? TAKE THAT NEW JERSEY
All articles say they will move in next summer, summer of 2007. If it happens to get delayed to the summer of 2008, it doesn't matter, since it's still happening.
2008 Is Better Then 2007 I Want My Jets To Stay A Long Island Team For As Long As They Can. I Want To Have More Summers With My Jets Everyday I Go The One Thing I Look Foward To Every Year And Now They Are Taking It A Way From Me it is not fair i tell you i love meeting them at the cafitera with the true long island fans waiting for them .everyone is so nice now where in florham park will true fans find there team eating lunch WHERE I ASK YOU I KNOW I AM ACTING CRAZY BUT I DO NOT CARE THE JETS ARE BACKSTABBING THERE LONG ISLAND FANS
This morning's Star-Ledger said it was thought the move would take place "some time next year," which means 2007 to me. If that's the case, the Training Camp this August might be the very last one at Hofstra.
 :rofl2: I guess that really sucks for you then huh? Jets in NJ, T-15 months to my first training camp (hopefully).
Another one that didn't get sec 227's memo. Jersey did win, but now there will be two teams that play in New Jersey, live, work, practice, eat, socialize......all in New Jersey, and call themselves the New York so and so's. So yes, Jersey did win but as always the joke is kind of on them, in the grand scheme of things. Lets face it, North Jersey is a place that's 'next to New York'. South Jersey is a place that's 'near Philly'. In between is a lot of refineries. AC is a slum. People laugh when you mention it in the same sentence as Vegas. Jersey Shore?...........uh, not exactly your celebrity haven. People that can summer anywhere, summer on Long Island.........cause they know class. The second Springsteen made any money he bolted Jersey for L.A, but hey, you still got Southside Johnny. There's something to be proud of. This ought to stoke the fires
I agree that NY has drove the jets away so they should owe no loyalty but You would think that the NJ fans would have pride in their state like the NY fans do and want the team to be called the NJ Jets just out state pride! Guess not!
Joe Willie is right on target... As a native of Long Island, I am sad to see the Jets leave Hofstra. I remember going there as a young lad and watching the Jets practice. I met several players over the years. There was a real connection between the Jets and their Long Island fans who drove to Queens to watch them in Shea. When the Jets moved to the Meadowlands, the Hofstra facility helped maintain that connection. Look, I agree that NYC and the politicians blew it more than once with the Jets. But, I also blame the fans...the fans who would not support the WSS! You guys were selfish...wanting a stadium in Queens or Long Island, and ignoring the reality that if Woody didn't get the WSS he would move the team lock stock and barrell to New Jersey. You guys blew it...you are part of the reason the team is moving to New Jersey...and you deserve it! Personally, it doesn't matter to me...I will be a Jet fan whether they are in New Jersey all season, or only for the games... The team will get a better stadium, better facilities...and a better deal, and I don't blame them one bit. I'll miss Hofstra and the Jets on LI... gg
Hears to hoping that all future Jets practices in New Jersey are closed to the general public, enclosed in a practice bubble, rimmed by barbed wire and surrounded by a moat filled with flesh eating crocs... You guys just had to have the whole cake huh? Couldn't even leave us what amounted a few crumbs and some icing on the spoon...
You'd think I would be Happy. Lived in QUeens and the JETS practice was right there. Just Moved to Jersey, 20 mins from the stadium and Now the JETS move to Jersey. NOPE. What'll make me happy? Their Own Stadium IN NY where they can be the NY JETS. With their own Stadium Colors, Stadium HOF, Pride , Prestige and a HOME. If you think that having a "Neutral Stadium" is a Home, You've all been DUPED!
dave why don't you stfu it is the new york jets not the new jersey jets get your own team..i am not rich i can not get to games.so leave us with training camp for free .now they are moving that they are backstabbing long island
  As far as Springstein goes, that no-talent loser still lives in NJ. And as for summering, I wish more people would go to LI, the Jersey shore becomes Staten Island Guidoville-South in the summer. It sucks.
anyone from NY or LI who opposed the WSS deserves this! You either knew it and didn't care, or you didn't think about the ramifications of no WSS... I was a big proponent of the WSS...and I knew that if the politicians and fans and residents all blocked it, then Woody would take his toy/team and move it closer to his home! You get what you deserve!
You and Me both GG!!! The reason it got blocked was all BS. Why isn't anyone fighting for the land now?? HUH?? What happened to Cablevision? What happened to Silvers fear of people thinking he Forgot about the WTC??? The fact is Silver was an ASS and tried to look like a Good Guy when all he did was cost NY Billions in Revenue! Hey Silver, That freedom tower plan goin great huh? And Cablevision HA!!! They Disappeared faster than the Chocolate milk on a JHS Lunch tray!
