Flash seems like a #1 kind of guy.

I thought about him being #1 also but then I don't like the #1 for players.

I'm wracking my brain here, because I had a paperback of Flash Gordon and it had pictures including a shot of Flash in his Jets jersey and shoulder pads.

    I'm certain it was either a 7 or a 14.

In the book of the film, Flash ran for a TD to win the Super Bowl for the Jets. Nice work, Flash...

Well, almost a year has gone by, but I've finally found out which number Flash wore (I haven't been looking for the entire 10 months since my last post in this thread, by the way).

    The number was...

    ... 19.

And here's what he looked like.

Hope it was worth the wait... is that tumbleweed blowing through here?

I love this thread! Flash Gordon is one of my favorite movies in the world and I can honestly say I've never seen that picture of him wearing #19. Never knew he HAD a number!
Since this is a vague "Flash Gordon" thread, and not a specific "What Number Did Flash Gordon Wear?" thread...I'll keep the subject alive.
Anyone know anything about the upcoming SciFi series? All I heard was that 22 episodes were ordered, some Smallville guy was playing Flash, and queen's music will score it.
Anyone know if he'll be playing for the Jets? Hopefully they'll open with him leading the Jets to victory ...with terrential downpours or extreme weather of some kind I'd imagine to cue Ming's attack.

I haven't heard anything about this - sounds good, though. The football game sounds like a great idea, the sort of spectacular opening they might just go for!

We need a QB that can fight for his life on a giant, swiveling platform with spikes on it. Against an alien dude with a whip.

As a kid I was into toys and games,My dad was always screammin at the TV during Jets games and Later when he took me to see Flash gordan; Thats really when I was like wow The Jets are awsome and began to really care about what my dad was screamming for. I also like when I hear mention of the Jets in movies. Heres one : The Jets figurine on the dash of Remo Willaims car.

Awesome thread, and great find of the pic. I thought that in the movie they showed him running the TD.

My wife hates it whenever the movie is on, I make her watch it.

I remember him playing 'football' with Ming's guards (and that great quote from Klytus when they're getting killed by Flash - 'Are your men on the right pills?') but I don't remember seeing any scenes with him actually playing for the Jets. It is described in the book, though.

Other Jets mentions in movies - doesn't Bill Murray dress a baby in a Joe Namath shirt in Ghostbusters?

Thanks for that Angry, it was fun to watch again. I remembered incorrectly - it was Ming, not Klytus who had the 'pills' line.

A couple of things struck me about that clip - first, Sam Jones throws a bit like a girl.

Second, the line 'Maybe you should execute their trainer' could have been said about the 2005 Jets...
