Well maybe that's a bit of an exaggeration, but he's playing really well, and better than Geno has for the most part in the past.

So you want the Genocoaster instead???

I'm in favor of keeping Fitz as the starter, but he is not playing at nearly a pro bowl level. He is just a veteran that can manage the game with the weapons he has.

We as fans need to stop it with these extreme perspectives about the QBs we have right now. Let's just enjoy the success and hope they can be in contention at the end of the season.

Yeah I agree with that. I'm just shocked that about 25% of fans want to switch QB's when we're 3-1, Fitz is playing well, and Brandon Marshall is killing it! And to switch to the GENOCOASTER of all things, LOL! Ridiculous.

We are never going to be happy without Brady or Rodgers level of play, are we? Jeez! I'd be happy with what we have now since it's not going to get any better. Bryce Petty is at least two years away. I can live with at least one INT a game from Fitz because he limits mistakes. Geno is a series of bad mistakes waiting to happen.

Fitz is throwing into double and triple coverage on a regular basis. How is that limiting mistakes? The whole point of having a receiver like Marshall is that if the other team double or triple covers him then other receivers are either open or in single coverage and you're supposed to throw the ball to the other receivers, not to the double or triple covered Marshall. He's been flirting with disaster and his interceptions and near interceptions show that. I hope he won't have another disaster like the eagles game, but I think good teams (like the patriots) won't be dropping those interceptions like the crappy defensive teams the jets have been playing so far. They've played one team with a decent defense so far - and they intercepted Fitz 3 times.

for me it's Fitz, Geno is just way too much of a lottery. ground and pound get Ivory on the run and let Fitz throw when needed, use or sick defense to keep winning and we will be just fine

I'm not a big Fitz fan, but he's on track to finish with 28TDs 24 INTs 3696 yards. If he can reduce his INTs a bit that's a pretty good season from the guy who started the year as number 2 so was essentially brought in as our backup QB.

I'm genuinely torn on this subject despite how it's been beaten like a dead horse.

Geno can actually throw the ball. He throws it very accurately deep where he wants to, his problem has been he chooses bad spots to accurately put the ball. He showed tons of promise in the MIA game and in the preseason leading up to "the punch". His ceiling is 10 times higher and I don't know he could possibly be much worse than Fitz if he was put in there.

Fitz is a good manager. Makes some really horrid deep throws in coverage and scares me when he throws the ball. Many of his passes should have been INTs, so his stats are a bit inflated. He offers no upside in terms of future QB. He is better than Geno in the redzone by far. That's an important fact which is probably the only reason I might want Fitz over Geno. Fitz will lose us some games and won't deliver in the long bombs where Geno would deliver. However, his INTs deep are more like punts and he might end up scoring more by managing where to put the ball when Jets face first and goal.

Honestly, we're 3-1, so they won't put in Geno even if all the fans wanted them to. If it was my team, I would start Geno since Geno can't be that much worst, but can also be so much better. Neither Fitz nor Geno are the answer at the position however. I am waiting on my darkhorse candidate for next year, the man, the myth, the legend, Bryce Petty.

Fitzpatrick as it stands right now should be the starter. If Geno was at 61% with 7tds and 6ints, I think many would be praising his improvement. No point in taking Fitz out now while the team is winning.

I want to be the OC for Fitz, it seems easy. Pass the ball short 90% of the time. If you see single coverage on the outside take a shot deep. If you see any semblance of double or triple team, throw it short.

Fitz is smart and has a damn good short game, but his propensity for throwing into double coverage will eventually hurt this team. If he can cut down on that the Jets will be in great shape.

Geno will get his shot this year. As awesome as the pass blocking has been, I doubt Fitz stays healthy all year. Whether he misses a game or 5, Geno better be ready when his number is called.

Is this back? I thought we traded Geno over the break....for one of Sanchez's slightly used sideline hotdogs.

    He does since when?

He has is one of the most inaccurate QB's I have seen. Saying the opposite does not make it true.

What makes his ceiling high? Is it his bad footwork? His bad bad pocket presence? or it his slow release?

Many fans use the Miami game as a measuring stick for Geno, the one thing they forget is, that Decker was up against Courtland Finnegan, who was injured and should have never been on the field.

Decker had his way with Finnegan, and it was like training camp for Geno, throwing to Decker.

While I absolutely don't agree that Fitz is playing at a "Pro-Bowl caliber level", a quick look at this overall body of work (QBR) shows VASTLY improved statistics vs. Sanchez and Smith.

Currently, Fitz is ranked 9th in the NFL. Smith was either last or almost last in these categories for the past 2 years. Agreed, he didn't have the same weapons as Fitz currently has, but still, greatly improved performance at the QB level.

Fitz doesn't get stripped sacked, take 15 yard sacks, throw bone-headed interceptions, etc. Some of his INT's were tipped, and some were "Hail Mary" plays (well, for him, throwing the ball 40+ yards in the air is a Hail Mary play) that were picked off. I don't see nearly the same level of poor judgement and decision making as Geno has shown us over the past 2 years. He reminds me of Chad....with a slightly stronger arm, and slightly less accuracy and decision making skills.

I'm not a Smith hater, and I'm glad he's on the team and ready to play, but for now...it would take a disaster of biblical proportion to take Fitz out and replace him with Smith.

Like all of us, I truly wish that Geno could have started this year, in order to determine if he sucks...or he has played with a team that sucked. IMO, it was a little bit of both for the past 2 years, but I would have loved to see him in this offense.
