A lot of recent articles flying around about HOF talent wasting their time on horrible teams. Luck and Rivers are also mentioned with the Jets as an upgrade mainly due to the fact we can generally keep our QB upright and the Saints rebuild will outlast Drew's few remaining years. Whilst its great in theory to have an actual QB on this team we're not exactly in the position of being one piece away from being a challenger as we have so many, many problems elsewhere.
So what should he have done? Am incomplete pass is no different than an interception at that point. It was a good quality throw. No one else was open. No room to run it for a first. What more could he have tried to do? Sent from my SM-G930P using Tapatalk
Probably the fact that SD sucks and probably needs to do a major rebuild, and Rivers is one of the only trade pieces they have that could bring anything good in return. Don't annoy the haters with facts and logic. They just wanna hate.
We couldn't afford to pay one week of either of their salaries and I doubt Indy and SD would just eat what's left..they aren't the Yankees.
that's why i don't understand all the Mac 'caved' talk.. Fitz ended up taking a contract with less money, and less guarantees than what was originally offered, after all that stand off.
W. any other position on the field it'd be a slam dunk win for Mac..but it was handled poorly b/c it is the Quarterback of the NY Jets. You don't dilly dally through a whole offseason having no idea who your QB is. Fitzpatrick's success last year was largely based on hot reads & scripted stuff..you can't tell me he couldn't have benefit from those OTA's/TC sessions spent sitting around & stewing. Once he rejected whatever deal was on the table..they should've moved on to plan B. Perhaps there was no plan B b.c they really couldn't afford to bring in a real QB & at least w. Fitz they had negotiation leverage & could appease a sector of the fan base.
My point was that i don't agree with the 'Mac caved' criticism. He didn't 'cave' into demands, as he ended up getting him for less. A better criticism of Mac is what you are suggesting......that there should have been a better Plan B (or Plan A as it were), to begin with. What that alternate plan should've been, i don't know.....but it is true that while i believe Mac has done a good job overall, he has struggled at the QB position thus far. He's brought in 3 guys, kept 4 rostered, and yet we're still fucking playing Geno Smith this weekend. that certainly deserves criticism.
Totally a different plan B. It seems clear the Jets..while eager..were not enamored enough w. the QB class to wager the future..or even spend a 1st round pick for that matter. Oh to have been a fly on the wall for Paxton Lynch's florham park visit. I really don't hate the Hack pick b/c at least it's another poker in the fire long term to solve the riddle. The QB positional value in the draft is drastically inflated..those saying Hack was more like a 4th rounder or later in the traditional sense aren't wrong..but in the same vein Jared Goff ain't the #1 overall prospect.Inflation based on need. I'll grant Mac this..he is sticking to drafting a QB every year, keeping the guys around & seeing if they develop w. time. It's almost like putting together a pitching staff & trying to find that ace. If/when the Jets ever strike..it will serve their QB room well w. a very good ground floor & depth in place.Still waiting for "The one"
