The NFL cap is $155 million dollars and the Jets got every other player of importance signed before Fitz...what else are you saving 500k for? Really now 500k on a $155 million cap is not going to cause them to cut someone.
Why WOULD WE DO THIS!! Why give a guy who cant throw down field, old as hell, losing overall record in this league, never been to the playoffs, and choked in the most important game of the year last season to cost us the playoffs that kind of money? Seriously.... Wait... Geno Smith was the alternative, I totally get it now, kinda seems like a no brainer when you put it that way. Might be the best move of the offseason to be honest. Easy.

You missed the context of the post. People complaining about the ONE YEAR deal. What else were we going to do with that money with every free agent worth a flying fuck being re-signed. Go suck off Geno and his 40 career turnovers some more.
I think people are missing a huge part to this equation. Everyone in that locker room, with one exception, wanted Fitz under center.
To me it appears like the opposite in Maccagnan being a tough negotiator for these agents to deal with. He literally met in the middle with Wilkerson's demands and made him cuttable after year 3-4.
Our best chance to have an enjoyable season is with Fitz. I want Geno to do well, but he is just not an NFL caliber starter. He may one day be a dependable back up who can occasionally spot start, but that is his ceiling. I trust Gailey, Bowles and Macc's evaluation of Geno as a starter.
Everybody is saying, "How could give a noodle armed guy 12 million dollars." ..... looks down the bench at Geno. "Way to go, Fitz. Take us to the promised land!"
I'll cheer the Jets on like I have every year since I've become a fan of the green (96)..but there will be a slight amount of satisfaction when Fitz Shitz the bed. That satisfaction being the "told ya so" type Geno would have likely been just as bad, but my joy comes from the posters that believe Fitz is the savior. LOL Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
But I really don't see anyone claiming Fitz is the savior. Most supporters just prefer him over Geno.
