Now we have 2 QB's that can play. With our defense and weapons if we stay healthy we can do some damage, schedule be dammed. Way to go Mike. Everyone is signed and ready and we did not issue any Mr. T. type contracts.
I'm of the opinion that the indictment on Geno happened when the jets went on a 1-4 tailspin, he was healthy and ready to play and he never got the starting job given to him, eventhough he was the supposed starter before getting his jaw broken. Zace made the correct statement in one of his post, and I think jet fans know it to be true, we have no long term answer at the QB position right now, whether it's Fitz, Geno, or the other 2 kids. Let's all hope this year can be successful despite the lack of talent at the QB position, and some question marks on the oline.
Insufferable. Maybe the worst poster. I used to appreciate your gimmick when I thought you were just trolling but now it's brutal. So our best shot at the future was a guy who played against dogshit competition for 3 years and won't be ready for another 2?
he's growing the beard so he has some jaw cushioning. He wants to avoid getting his jaw broken in the locker room
Ok, here are the results for Fitzpatrick's seasons as a starter: year team games record and SoS, which is pro-football-reference.com's measure of the strength of the schedule, with positive numbers stronger and negative numbers weaker: 2008 Cin 13 4-7-1 3.03 2009 Buf 10 4-4-0 2.43 2010 Buf 13 4-9-0 4.27 2011 Buf 16 6-10-0 0.50 2012 Buf 16 6-10-0 -0.96 2013 Ten 11 3-6-0 0.41 2014 Hou 12 6-6-0 -2.33 2015 NYJ 16 10-6-0 -3.03 Just for perspective, the Jets 2009 and 2010 seasons had SoS's of 1.58 and 2.53. If they want to pay Fitz to take hits against Pitt, Bal, Cin and the rest of the tough defenses they are going to face so that their young QB's don't become neurotic, ok. But paying this guy even more than what they offered just doesn't make sense. The receivers may like him because they will pad their stats while Fitz throws int's, but I guarantee you, nothing is happening this year folks. Foles would have been a much better choice. Ron
Looks like the cap hit is over two years. He's signed through next year but can void it.... Jets QB Ryan Fitzpatrick's deal is for 2 yrs, with voidable (see: phony) 2017. $10M to sign, $2M base. Cap hit = $7M; $5M in dead $ for '17. The $3M in incentives in Fitzpatrick's deal are 3-tiered ... Combination of play time, and making the playoffs, AFC title game, Super Bowl So we're going to pay $5 million in dead money for him next year regardless. Mac went all in.
Exactly zero of all this matters. The Jets don't need to sign anybody else, the money was there. It makes all the sense in the world to give it to the leader of the team that all* want him back. And after all this, Fitzpatrick is still underpaid. He's 23rd in salary for starting QBs
I have supported this Godawful team since 1967 We won a 69 Super Bowl and I was in HS Its approaching 50 years since that day GUT SAYS ITS PLAYOFF TIME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Promised Land with FITZ (AKA MOSES) WoooHooo!!
