Well I guess we can all agree to disagree about Bowles capabilities. That is the beauty of this forum. I have gone on record many times that IMO Bowles is not all that great of a DC never mind a HC. Hope he and his followers here at TGG prove me dead wrong. Deep down inside I want nothing but for this team to be on a path to long term success. A balanced team with equally distributed talent, well coached, and strong at the point of attack, on both sides of the line. At this juncture I know we have ways to go, but I hope the discipline to play smart and the focus to minimize mistakes has been drilled and coached at nausea. I have my reservations as this season approaches. You might think I'm crazy. But I worry about our defense more than our offense. Truth be known, with very little time on the clock, I rather have the offense on the field, even though behind, and go for a winning score, with a rookie QB, a rookie OC and a suspect line. Conversely I hate it when we place our lead on the hands of our defense with conservative plays, and watch us getting slashed down the middle of the field, 1st down after 1st down, or negating a fourth down with a stupid penalty, or go brain dead with the prevent defense. Please Bowles make a believer out of me. Go Jets
John Fox didn't get another year with Mitchell T in Chicago. Anything can happen, but I'm trying to be a betting man in this situation.
The people saying Darnold buys another year for BOWLES are simply wrong. He needs to win. For Mac, yes. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
YOUR CIRCUS - YOUR MONKEYS! You laid them out here, so let's forget about cumulative record since no team has ever gone to a playoff game because of what they did a year or two before the current season. Cumulative record does not mean squat! Added above are the records for each coach for their first three seasons. What I have added to your list is honesty and perspective, the kind of perspective that helps us judge coaches. Since these are the coaches you hand picked let's look at exactly what those coaches did in their first three seasons. EVERY SINGLE ONE HAD A THIRD YEAR BETTER THAN THEIR FIRST! That's right - every single one. That means that NONE had a team that won only half as many games in season three as they did in season one, not even close!. Only two had a single year worse than the one before it. So what's the difference between those on your list and Todd Bowles? They all showed PROGRESS while Bowles has gone in the opposite direction. There's my case for Bowles not being able to carry a jock for any of these guys and the wrong guy for continuing as Jets head Coach - let the lame excuses begin! PS - Thanks for making this even easier than I thought it would be. I was going to calculate the improvement percentage in each guy's record to compare to the minus 50% for Bowles but that would just be piling on. Edited to add: I have just noticed that you're going to spend a couple of weeks on the beach so that should give you plenty of time to figure out why progress means nothing and going backwards is just as good as moving forward - continuity, perhaps?
The Bowles suck is pretty pathetic. I don't think his parents would even suck up like you do. I'm talking about the roster that had Fitzpatrick (career year), Revis came back, Skrine in his natural best fit position of slot. Cromartie, Wilkerson, Richardson. Yes that 10-6 team. What does Arizona defense have to with the Jets? Bowles was not in charge of that team Bruce Arians was. Stay focus head coach to head coach comparison. The roster purge only started last year. Weak point. and how did that stop him from running out a lousy game plan each and every week. Why so much chaos in the locker room. Oh wait its all the player's fault? You can have a all star player at every position and Bowles would find a way to screw it up. Just stay around and keep propping Bowles up. Because deep down you know he ain't taking the Jets anywhere but down. Go on record right now and predict the Jets record. Or do you want another decade of this mess?
We always seem to look for improvement from year to year out of our players but what about our coaching staff & front office ... we are still talking about the same deficiencies in Bowles since he arrived on the scene. Bottom line , if we ever win a SB with Bowles at the helm it'll be in spite of him , not because of him... I have 0 confidence in Bowles .
That is true you just reaffirmed it. His coaching reflects that in spades. LF you see the Jets going anywhere with Bowles? You defend him alot so tell us what is the end game? Is it another 4 years of this?
It's not really about what I think they can achieve record wise - it's what "is sufficient" according to some posters in order for Bowles to keep his job. If the team goes 5-11 I don't what to hear the they showed improvement crap.
I clicked on this thread expecting to see future HC candidates. Where are they? I want to throw David Shaw's name in the ring if we could pry him out of Stanford.
Yea it is about you. I am asking you think this team is capable of doing from a talent standpoint. If you don’t want to hear 5-11 was good enough what is? Personally I don’t see the talent available to be more than 7-9 so I don’t foresee a coaching or gm change being made.
LOL, I get that. But Im a afraid youre going to be disappointed, hes going to win enough, theyre going to play hard enough that hes here next year. This offseason they have 100 mil to spend and theyre going to get much better. Hes not leaving anytime soon.
Very well. When I look at the teams Schedule I don't have a hard time finding 8 wins. If they lay another egg this season it's time move on from Bowles. Do you also require examples of how terrible of a coach he is like 101ganggreen101?
OK, still keep talking nonsense. They rebuilt, wake up. 8-8 when a year ago the roster was thought to be lucky to win a game. Yes we want a SB. Thinking were a SB team now is pure nonsense and thinking anything else is setting the bar low is mindless.
This is practically a mortal lock. I don’t understand why it’s not evident to everyone that this was the plan since February
