Broadly speaking a coach is as good as their starting QB - give any half decent coach a top 10 QB and they will be great - give them a poor one and they will fail
So BTW, we gonna just bring up 1 game (first game of the freaking season)? The Denver game would've been a better reason for argument, even so that game was even worse on offense, no execution what-so ever in the first quarter 1st Drive - McCown Fumbles the ball 2nd Drive - McCown takes a sack on first down for a loss of 8 yards 3rd Drive - Interception 4th drive - 3 and out Best play was a run for Powell for 8 yards, but the Jets have seen what happens when you run him to the ground, he usually gets hurt. Its funny even that game, when they were down 20 to nothing, when they were able to sustain anything, they went for it on 4th down. Fucking Bowles should've punted. Having hope at the QB position will change the coach and how he operates, look at Ron Rivera.
Contrary to popular belief even the All-Time great coaches make coaching blunders on the sidelines especially during their first 3 years they do... Don't forget to mention Pete Carroll literally giving N.E another ring while refusing to feed one of the greatest pure power back of All-Time in Marshawn Lynch the rock from either the one or two yard line. OMG I would have ponded Lynch 3 consecutive times if my life depended on it. One of my favorites... Or what about the great Parcells literally ruining our 1997 playoff chances with a blunder of a play call? I was 12-13 watching this game in the basement with my older brother and still have yet to ever forget... But yea, right, Todd Bowles during only his 1st three years was and is "the only one"....
Actually it's an excuse to fire the guy. Not the other way around. I'd you think he's getting fired for 8-8 and decent play you're mistaken. Season is not about records only. They don't exist in a vacuum. That's what fans with undue expectations complain about. This is a team that was said to have 0 or 1 win talent and won 5 largely due to good QB play. Now we want to demand that the team wins at least 4 more games with a rookie QB. You're worried about playoffs, home field, byes and SBs, now. LOL. Talk about needing to dial it back.
Whose popular belief is it that All-Time great coaches haven’t all made coaching blunders, especially in their first three years? Who said Todd Bowles is “the only one”? When you put it in “quotes” that means someone actually said it, which if they did, is asinine. Look, I like Bowles and am rooting for him to improve and succeed but to suggest he’s beyond reproach or criticism is equally as asinine.
Two wrongs (or 3, or 4, or...) don't make a right. SO you admit that Bowles was wrong to do what he did. And it wasn't the first or last time he did it. Winning coaches know when to take a chance, and they do it consistently. So far Bowles has not shown he's capable of knowing when to do this.
When Bowles gets them to a SB and blows it, I'll give him the same break I gave CArroll (None). As I said to SGB - "Two wrongs don't make a right". Sure HOF coaches make mistakes, but they don't make as many as Bowles has or they wouldn't be HOF.
I never admitted to that at all, I questioned the decision but I UNDERSTAND WHY he made the decision. I am actually pretty split on the BUF game because I understand he was willing to give him D a chance to make a play. I don't have to agree with what Bowles did, and as far as I am concerned he coached some good games last year. I've seen a lot of good and a lot of bad in terms of his decision making. Learning from experience is what makes a coaches great, they learn when to take those chances and those chances at times is based off who you are going into battle with. Winning coaches don't always know when to take a chance, this is not true at all. Doug Marrone, Andy Reid and especially Mike McCarthy have a reputation of making questionable decisions especially in big games. McCarthy with Rodgers have been conservative. We will have to disagree on that one.
Tread lightly. It could be interpreted that you believe Todd Bowles is on a Beli type trajectory. Also your last bolded line is completely troll and you are inciting a fight. @Cman60 and @Brook! Warned you about this just but you can’t help yourself and you just keep painting a target on your own back man. Please tone it down. That bolded line gets me pissed off.
Starting Darnold bought Bowles another year. If they suck he can say it’s cause they had a rookie QB. A shame because I don’t think Bowles will ever win anything big
"Learning from experience" is NOT what Bowles has shown in sufficient quantity. And you're splitting hairs to say you don't agree he made a bad decision, but that you understand WHY he made it. In fact, you admit he made a bad decision - it doesn't matter WHY he made it. And BTW, you do NOT know why he made it unless he confides in you, which I doubt. Again, I never said winning coaches don't make mistakes, they of course do. But they make less of them than losing coaches. So far, Bowles belongs to the latter category. I don't have a problem with him making mistakes, I have a problem with the kind of mistakes he makes and the frequency he makes them. Look, it's clear we're not going to agree. You think he's done enough to earn retention; I think he's done enough to earn being let go...not because of some major f'up, but his whole body of work shows him to be mediocre at best, and that's not good enough to get to, let alone win, a SB. "You are what your record says you are", per Parcells, and there's a good reason that's true. You can make stats look like anything you want - as Mark Twain said: "There are 3 kinds of lies: Lies, damnable lies, and statistics". But you can't twist the record. He's had 4 years, and will have a 5th now, If he doesn't show major improvement, he needs to go.
If the Jets win Monday it will reflect on the players. If they lose it will be the coaches fault. Actually win or lose it's the players who decide the outcome.
It’s only the 5th time he’s posted it, he’s got another 4-5 cut and pastes of the same exact trolling before he gets another stern warning.
You just can't help yourself can you.. You were warned to streamline your posts but for whatever reason, you still post these huge statements as if they're Holy Screed. Tellya what DWC, why don't you take a few weeks off and ponder why you just got bounced.
