Fans “such as yourself” are still living in a land of simply being competitive, “what ifs” & hypotheticals.i have higher standards for this team.Especially after 4 yearsIm trying to find a single thing to hang my hat that rationalizes keeping him around.”Almost” wins dont impress me.This franchise has a boatload of almost moral victories.Including under this regime.Spare me.Win a game when the pats get all the calls.Cause thats been happening to us against them since basically 04. I understand its a young team but stil obviously lacking dynamic talent including from the players they already have on the roster. It’s not a black & white premise for me..i hate to tell you. Its 4 years in..hes had teams constructed in a few different manners w different levels of talent & the product has looked exactly the same. And its a product that isnt good enough to win.Specifically win his supposed specialty the defense. Its a lifeless rigid ineffective pit for mediocrity.I cant name a single player who has been set up for success & executed on it thats signed since his arrival.Buster skrine for still having a job?Maybe.
Buster Skrine .. let's start a thread about this bum (JK please don't) My man toast! Almost makes my pine for no neck Kyle Wilson at the nickel.
I think we all want Todd Bowles to succeed. The thing that gets me is if we have another LOSING season some on here are fine with bringing him back. I have a tough time swallowing that.
Depends. If we finish 7-9 and we're in a lot of games and show improvement as a team and individually he could get another shot. I dont look at this roster and think theyre at least an 8-8 team. And being 8-8 pissing away a couple of games isnt better than the previous scenario. The season has to be taken into account as a whole. A season isnt totally about final records. All 8-8 seasons arent the same. A team that comes in rated as a 12 win team and wins 8 might need a new HC. A team that comes in as predicted to win 4-5 wins and is lead to a 8 win season can win a HC the coach of the year trophy
You're right. If the games are lost primarily due to a talent difference, that's okay. But of they're due to Bowles's poor game management and coaching, and too many mistakes made with no apparent punishments of the offenders, then it's the same old song and Bowles needs to go.
This is where I have to disagree ... it's like we are already building in an excuse to be okay with another losing team.. "but hey we were 8-8 and lost a few close games, it'll get better next year." The season is 100% about final records. That's what determines home playoff games, bye weeks and most importantly.. Rings. Anything else is just about trying to make yourself feel okay with losing. No more excuses. Win or GTFO.
There's a big difference. Khalil Mack led Oakland defenses were the opposite of "competitive" they were laughing stock jokes but that's a topic of conversation for another thread.
Hes also gone for it on 4th. Hes not the only coach to do this. Find me every scenario and we will go over it in terms of situation football. If the qb was ineffective he may have a point.
The fact of the matter is Bowles' 2017 Jets were extremely competitive throughout 12 of 16 games despite so called know it all experts, critics and media pundits alike all "predicting" a "catastrophic season". If you can't see good signs in competing in 12 of 16 games (.750%) well then I have every right to question your football knowledge and claim we win A LOT more games with a better and more talented roster. And if you have the BALLS to claim 2017's Jets roster was a "playoff caliber football team" then you should be absolutely ashamed and embarrassed of yourselves since we're talking "wins and loses".
If the Jets go on another Head Coach search, the balls move is Scott Frost. I think he's going to be the next great Head Coach when he gets his shot.
Sorry... don't have the time to oblige your request. I know what I've seen and don't feel the need to prove it to anybody.
If you dont have anything productive to say, I suggest you stay out of the conversation then. Since you dont need to prove anything to anyone.
You made an absurd request my friend. Asking me to go look up games when he punted instead of going for it or vise versa. Get a grip. If you QB sucks... AND your defense sucks, which has been the case more times than not, I'd rather go for it with my hand on the ball rather than trying to get it back. Now please go look up every situation where Bowles made a good call in the past three years otherwise you are unproductive to this thread.
He's coached what he has had on the field. As far as I am concerned the conservativeness you all complain about is due to the lack of talent at the QB position and an offensive line that cannot run the ball. Game management is an issue that most coaches in the NFL share. Even the best ones, you hope that Bowles a first timer at being a HC 4 seasons in improves. Last season, late in the year, saw a much more improved defense specifically against teams like the Falcons and New Orleans. Heck, better QB play and perhaps they win those games. You didn't even want to give Bowles credit for naming Darnold the starter, you thought there was an alternative motive. You guys blamed him for Hack and Petty not playing. Like I said I consider the circumstance.
Backup your comments. If not, I will refer to my previous post that is all my friend. Posters in the past have came up with excellent details and proof to back up their statement.
2016 Jets loses. 24-3 @ K.C. 27-17 vs Seattle. 31-13 @ Pittsburgh. 31-3 @ Arizona. 41-10 @ Indy. 34-13 @ Miami . 41-3 @ N.E. Those 7 loses (alone) were by a combined 167 points (23.8 points per loss). Which was the reason for the roster purge of washed up veteran's who are pretty much no longer contributing within the NFL anymore. I'm sorry but if as a Jets fan you fail to the see massive improvements from 2016 to 2017 you're absolutely blind and have zero concept or knowledge on what a complete re-build consists of. We were competitive throughout 12 of 16 games and 5 of our loses were by a combined 37 whopping points (5.2). It goes way beyond the "win loss" record when judging a coach who's been forced to coach behind a complete re-build. Should I (once again) post the records of most of the All-Time Great NFL head coaches after (only) their 1st 3 years? . I just might. And suddenly you all will no longer have a valid or realistic leg to stand on....
