Schotty plays favorites too.....LT has no business running the ball on short yardage downs.....yet, he was given the ball on critical short yardage situations last night. I'm tired of Schotty and his inconsistent playcalls. I don't want the offense to cripple themselves next year by subjecting them to learning a new offense either.....so promoting Callahan would be the logical solution....given his past experience in an OC role.
Preaching to the choir my brother... I was all over the Shonnmower situation as it happened and after the fact.. There is no excuse for it and it's blatant stupidity on his part.
This.. This is what I don't understand. I'm tired of having to come back on teams. Why can't we blow teams out. (Excluding both Bills games).
I voted "No", but I'm actually more in the "undecided" category. I do believe the offense needs improvement, but I lean more towards better personnel. We need speed at the receiver position, a new right tackle, and perhaps a new feature running back. Also, we need a real #2 QB.
Bring Tom Moore out or retirement or give Tom Clements a try (Quarterbacks Coach for the Packers). Here is something amazing done with less than average QBs, under Clements’s tutelage, the Chiefs’ Elvis Grbac (in 2000) and the Steelers’ Kordell Stewart (in 2001) and Tommy Maddox (in 2002) each reached the Pro Bowl. Fluff: Clements time as the quarterback coach with the Green Bay Packers, he has worked with starting quarterbacks: Brett Favre, Aaron Rodgers, and Matt Flynn. In 2007, Favre statistically had one of his best seasons with the Green Bay Packers, taking them to the NFC Championship game. Clements is also credited for assisting in the development of one of the game's elite quarterbacks in Aaron Rodgers, as the only player in NFL history to throw for 4,000+ yards during his first two years as a starting quarterback in 2008 and 2009, and winning Super Bowl XLV and Super Bowl Most Valuable Player Award in Rodgers' third year as a starting quarterback in 2010. In Week 17 of the 2011 season, after the Packers went 14-1, head coach Mike McCarthy chose to deactivate Rodgers to keep him healthy for the playoffs and start backup quarterback, Matt Flynn, on January 1, 2012 at Lambeau Field vs. the Detroit Lions, Flynn's second start in his career. Throughout the game, Clements worked with Flynn on the sidelines, showing him what to look for in the photos from the previous offensive series. Flynn had a record setting performance, throwing for 480 yards and 6 touchdowns, both single game records for the Green Bay Packers.
JMO, but if Shotty JR hasn't been fired already, I don't think he'll be fired at all. Most teams that have decided to fire coaches or not renew coaches whose contracts have ended have already done so. If the Jets wait to fire Schotty, they'll have a smaller pool of candidates to choose from for his replacement.
Hopefully not, but that makes sense. It's also possible that they're waiting for some of the coaching staff on the high powered offenses in the playoffs to be available for interviewing. GB NO HOU Det
A non-playoff team waiting to fire a coach/coordinator until after the playoffs doesn't make a lot of sense. The firing of a coach or coordinator should be based on the coach/coordinator's performance, not on whether or not somebody "better" is available.
I think either way hes gone... I think that the Jets FO wants to see if he will get a job somewhere else so they dont have to pay him the money they would if they fire him
Well he is interviewing for the Jags job so most Jets fans are hoping we are being respectful and not firing in the middle of him interviewing for a job. That would hurt his chances and not be "right". Once the JAX decision is made, I'm sure we will see what is going on. As mention in other threads, reports have mentioned us looking at JAX OC and Tony Sparano at OC. Obviously they are looking for answers, but not trying to undermine Schottys attempt at a HC job.
