You're smarter than this. Where do you think that most of the variables came from in the first place? They came from Rex and are consequences of his coaching style, philosophy, lack of discipline and choices he has made.
While Rex should be fired now to send the message, I hope it won't. With someone else in charge, the team could likely win a game or three. With Rex in charge, we're guaranteed to only win 2 games and have better draft position.
The reason he should be fired now is because the team is obviously not responding to his coaching (if that's what you call it.) It really doesn't matter who takes over, it could be one of the flight crew for all it would matter. The other coaches don't need to be evaluated. The new coach should have a free hand in picking his assistants.
