Let's see. They need a backup veteran QB, the OC is over his head, the HC works them too hard. Oh never mind.
Talent is the problem. They can compete sometimes but over the season talent takes over. Players win games not schemes.
Was busy with moving some furniture to new house but recorded the game. Jets single handedly killed all my 4 football parlays but I will take it. 405 yards from a QB on his first ever start? Not sure what happened but if LaFleur was sitting in a booth, keep him there!
Soo can we admit that this thread might’ve been a bit premature? Nice to see what the offense is capable of with quality QB play.
It's always been about this. With the issues that ZW was presenting the Jets had a choice between trying to develop the offense or the QB. Until the injury there was no real conflict - they were trying to develop the QB and the offense suffered as a result. What Mike White did today was let us see how the offense could be developed when the QB was not the main issue. If White keeps on playing well i will be shocked if ZW sees the field outside of garbage time the rest of the season. You cannot give up a chance to develop the offense if you have a QB capable of running it.
Don't forget the Jets missed a FG and had 3 TOs, one of them moving at midfield and still put up 34 points. Pretty remarkable. They had over 500 yards. We'll see what happens next week but I like the offense and I am hoping the offense is starting to open up. Mike white, Carter, Johnson, Cole, Crowder and Berrios were all great. Mims had a dropped TD and hopefully he will be a big part of the offense in the next few games.
This thread was always premature, even without this game today, I believe it was made after the week 3 loss to the Broncos.... pretty ridiculous to call for a rookie OC to be fired after 3 weeks with a rookie QB.
I think anyone taking him off the hot seat after one good game is premature. LaFluer has been fuckin awful all year. This one game means nothing unless it continues this way.
Thought your better half had banished you to the game today, damn, that is some bad luck. Maybe stay away next home game as well and test if you are cursed
I do wonder if he managed to sneak away with one of the Patriots playbooks from Gilette Stadium last week haha. Some of the trickery and underneath throws reminded me of how the Patriots slapped us silly last week. On a more serious note, if being in the booth is a factor in the offense stepping up, then I really don't want to see him come back to the sideline if Zach Wilson returns just because he's a rookie.
Actually son is at home quarantined witch Covid symptoms. Bailed on the game this morning. Didn't want to take the risk. I only moved furniture between new house and old house to make myself useful. Tomorrow took the day off to take him to testing.
Wilson has not been holding this team back. LaFleur has been holding the team back. He called a VERY different game today than he ever called for Zach.
Wilson was sharp early. It was LaFleur's stupid game plans and play calling that got Zach to the point where he wasn't sharp. Zach could have executed this game plan with his eyes closed.
I totally disagree. The Jets showed today that you are wrong. They have talent. It has been the play calling and game plan.
