Indeed, they have always said that they are bringing talent to help them win every year, but have always found a way to fuck it up. Honestly, why don't you just come out and say you are deep down a closet Dolphins fan? I'm not wrong, right?
Tannenbaum did some good things and bad things. Maybe he learned something and will do more good and less bad this time. Hopefully not.
Either you are really very stupid or just ignorant or something..You know he started as GM here in 2006 right? Not directly after the playoff run
I mean every year since the first AFCCG, which is what junc was talking about. My own fault for not making that clear.
The stripped down 06 and 07 teams were at or near the top of the cap; that's surprising? And who decided on the top 10-15 rosters at that time and is that more important than being one of the final 4 teams? FTR I was in favor on Tanny getting fired; I just think the whole "cap hell" narrative is weak and way overblown. The guy was a capologist by trade; there's no doubt in my mind he would have fixed the cap as well as Idzik ultimately did. I had more issues with his increasingly poor drafts, the Tebow fiasco and choosing to retain, sign and/or release the wrong players…etc.
maneuvering got us Mangold, Revis, etc... better than holding 12 picks and getting little in return. In reality there needs to be a happy medium btw treating your picks like gold and not caring but I'd take Tannenbaum's approach over what BP and Idzik did here.
how did we get worse in 2010? won 2 more reg season games and had a chance to win in 4th qtr of title game. we were better in 2010.
Can't wait for some Trader Mike specialties including a 3 player NFL Draft rookie class after 4 tradeups or trades for veteran players. Maybe the Jets have a trade down partner with Miami now if things don't break right in the first 6 picks.
The trade up for Sanchez was pretty impressive as well he gave up practically nothing to move 12 spots.
We also have come away with 3 player drafts like 09 and 4-5 player drafts in I think 10. That has caught up to the team. The depth of the team and overall talent takes a dive when you consistently trade up. Ironically, it was 2006(his best draft class) where he didn't make a single trade up and that turned out to be the one where Mangold/DBrick/Leon Washington/Brad Smith/Kerry Rhodes/Eric Smith(As a special teams player) all came from. Yeah Schegel and Clemens came from it too but that was still a strong class that was vital towards our AFC Title run or runs.
The Jets were $25M over the cap going into 2006. They released or restructured a number of players to get back under.
regardless how anyone feels about Mark it was a great trade. he hasn't been perfect, he needed to preserve picks a little more but he went for it and we got pretty damn close. we had good depth in '09 and '10. remember we lost key guys like Leon, Leonhard, Woody, Jenkins, etc...
