And so would I. Put the points on the board when you have the opportunity. I get the risk, but Philly had not scored all second half, so back your defense. Bad shit can always happen if you game the clock and rely on a successful field goal. Would that have been Salah's fault too? The Mahomes slide a few weeks ago was a different matter in that they had the lead and just ran out the clock. Today, we were behind at the point of the Breece touchdown. I do understand the counter view, but I'd take the lead when you can get it all day long.
Just to give you a second perspective... my son and I thought Sanchez was openly rooting for the Jets, at one point I think he referred to them as "we" I felt he changed his tune a little later in the game when he made the comments about Hurts that you noted and some on twitter supposedly thought that was because the network might've actually said something to him, lol
This and the FG is not a guarantee. It just isn't. Nor is the plays in between. We could fumble or get penalty flags or some nonsense. At the end of the day the other scenario wasn't that much greater, and possibly worse so if they want us to walk it in, then walk it in. I felt pretty confident the defense would hold them there. If Eagles only needed a FG, I wouldn't have felt as good. Kickers are making 60+ yard FGs weekly now. Thats nothing, thats just 25-30 yards you need from the 25 yard line.
I agree as well I think Sirianni, who is a jerk, coached way too arrogantly... they got very lucky on the first drive and they should've kicked the FG. ( I still don't think that was a TD) I don't know what made them think they were going to drive the length of the field against the Jets with less than 2 minutes to play.
You take points when you can, what if they run the clock down playing for the field goal and someone on the O line misses a block and they miss the FG. The way the D was playing I was glad to leave it in their hands
It's a tough call. In the actual scenario, the Eagles have more time but need a TD. In the other scenario, Jets maybe only get a FG and Eagles only a need a FG to win, but with less time.
I can’t wait. We have a NE sales call tomorrow and it’s 11 Eagles fans, 1 Giants fan and me as the sole Jets fan. I’ll be opening the meeting at 10:53 to see who joins.
Holy mother of God is all I have to say. I'm 3 hours behind at a conference in Arizona, so I will be responding a little bit later at weird hours when everyone's asleep. Just wanted to stick my head in and say holy mother of god (again).
exactly!!!! If we run down the clock and assume we make the fg. Eagles need one big play to possibly win the game. If that happens this board would lose its collective mind about not trying get a td.
Normally I'd agree with this strategy, but given the struggle the Jets have had finding the EZ, and the crazy shit that's happened to prevent them from getting there, plus the way their D was playing, I think getting the TD was the right move. And also going for 2, although whether they did that or kicked the PAT the Eagles still needed a TD to win.
Yep, that definitely could have cost us the game. Saleh or Hackett one should have told relayed it into Zach to tell the rest of the offense not to score immediately. That said, I'm glad that we finally got a TD, even if Philly did give it to us.
If you own a jersey, I'm gonna need you to open up that meeting wearing whatever Jets jersey you own. I'll settle for any Jets gear though haha
If you had a pair you'd be sporting a Jets cap. Swoosh logo for bonus points... edit: @KY Jets Fan beat me to the punchline...
I almost turned the game off I got so mad about Hackett continuing to run on 1st down and not having Zach throw into the EZ when they were in the Red Zone. I thought sure that they were going to lose. I'm glad I stayed to the end. I don't like the new rule about blindside blocks. I understand why they did it, but imo Lazard's block was legit. It was a body block, nowhere near the head. This is tackle football not powder puff or two-hand tag.
