No matter how hard I try I just can’t get on board with Jermaine Johnson at 4. Or at 10 really unless we’re taking a WR at 4. He’s 23 and his one breakout year came after multiple years of mediocrity at best. He’s a walking red flag. At least in the top 10.
I think you need a stud at LT, and the 1st round is the place to get one. I think it’s important to find players that work with the coaching staff, and not to placate players with bad attitudes because that just infects the whole locker room eventually. If Ekwonu is gone, I’d rather take Johnson over any other OT that high, and target Raimann at 35 or a late Rd 1 trade up if possible. No matter what, you don’t have to ship out Becton urgently. Take your time, and see what offers come in. If there’s anything we know about the NFL, it’s that someone will see his 2020 tape and convince themselves they can get the best out of him. So it might not be a return of value in 2022, but I do believe Becton would be worth something decent for the 2023 Draft. Because you have Becton and Fant, it’s not OT in the Top 10 or Bust, but I think Ekwonu is worth the pick. I do think OT should be addressed in the Top 40 though. Early in the off-season, I wasn’t sure how down on Becton the coaches might truly be, but it seems to be getting clearer all the time.
