he was getting beaten by lawson. lawson is an elite rusher. he weight 364 at the combine which was less then a month before he entered the NFL. where did you see he was 380? he was great as a rookie as well.

OT isn't the same as NBA player. bryant mckinnie was apro bowler LT and SB champion with the ravens at 6'8 386 pounds. he played in the NFL for 11 years. Trent brown is one of the best OTs in football and he's 6'8 380lbs. that's 2 examples of OTs heavier then becton even at the exaggerated weight you claim who were great players with long careers. Oh and both of those players had exaggeration rumors of 400+ pounds during their career.

It wouldn't surprise me. The NFL is so clueless. Content creators showing your games only helps to promote the NFL.

It's like their dumb decision to restrict their license to EA. Once upon a time you had a ton of NFL games. Now it's just one. Maybe you make more from that license but overall you hurt the NFL. Less innovation with NFL games and thus fewer young people playing NFL games.

If they called that love tap illegal hands to the face, then it's a bigger missed call. That's not enough contact to be ok with him making a bad play.

Becton was getting roasted by Packers and Eagles rushers as well.

Regarding him being 380 lbs, there were a few places reporting that. Here is one:

    https://jetswire.usatoday.com/2021/...aining-camp-robert-saleh-mekhi-becton-weight/

"Currently listed at 6-foot-7 and 363 pounds, Becton admitted before the beginning of his rookie season that he weighed around 370 pounds. He also ended 2020 around 380 pounds, prompting discipline from the team, per the New York Post’s Brian Costello."

We also have Saleh's quote from camp saying Becton needs to take better care of his body, indicating it was still an issue as recently as this past offseason.

I realize the NBA is different than the NFL, I just used Shaq as an example of an enormous person who was actually quite a bit lighter for his height than Becton is. Sure, there are examples of successful OT's around the 380 range, but the vast majority of great OT's are quite a bit lighter than that. Anything over 300 lbs is already enormous, 380 is just insane.

When you're getting beaten consistently by speed rushers it's totally fair to question whether you should be 380 lbs.

    Alejandro Villanueva - 6'9", 320
    Jonathan Ogden - 6'9", 345
    Demar Dotson - 6'9", 315
    Calais Campbell - 6'8", 300
    Orlando Brown - 6'8", 345
    Andrew Whitworth - 6'7", 330
    Nate Solder - 6'8", 320
    Mike McGlinchey - 6'8", 315
    Rob Havenstein - 6'8", 330

Not sure why it's treated as an egregious opinion to be worried about the big guy reportedly hovering in the 370-380 range. The only guy whose close is Trent Brown and he's played two full seasons out of five as a starter.

It's not only that he looks slow-footed, it's also about hoping the kid has a long career which seems rather difficult at his weight. Especially because he doesn't play a position like defensive tackle (Sam Adams/Pat Williams anyone?) that can rotate out. He needs to get stronger as the game goes on.

It's a more sensitive topic on this board because we have the infamous Leonard Williams looks fat thread followed by the Q. Williams attack thread from that guy who was perving on Aaron Donald. But it's not an attack on being fat saying the guy needs to get his weight under control or he's going to struggle in this league with both longevity and edge rushers.

When Becton sees this guy he needs to run the other way.[IMG]

Becton has to realize that a speed rusher #43 has to be pushed to outside, cannot allow him
to get inside angle on him, these young guys AVT and him hopefully will learn the pro game
one game doesn't always tell the story...

Agreed but we really don't have all the facts. if Becton's weight gets out of control it is a huge red flag.

You don't see the irony in your post. the fact the headline says the coaching staff isn't worried. or the fact he gained supposedly 6-7 pounds during training camp which is nothing for a 6'7" man. one reporter said he ended "around 380" why doesn't he have the number and where did that info come from?

    From the same article

Muscle also weighs more then fat, if he lost fat but gained muscle which it looks like he did, he will be heavier. you can clearly see his gut is smaller this season. Last year he faced many speed rushers including nick bosa and joey , hughes, von miller, chandler jones, ingram, to name a few. I can't believe fans are focusing so much on this. The issue is interior pressure. Many speed rushers get the jump on OTs. especially in the wide 9. It's not effective becuase the OTs just ride them around the edge and the QB steps up. We can't step up because the IOL, instead we have to fade back right into the line of the edge rushers who should be out of the play
