Great point we need more than that. We seem to settle for "oh their playing hard". When that should be demanded along with competent coaches and drafting first round talent from the offensive side.
After rooting for them through thin and thin for over 55 years, I'm as close to done as I've ever been. That said, I've said that before and always returned, so it's going to take more than just one, single reason. What would probably push me over the edge is them retaining Bowles, and then focusing again on "D", and not getting one of the top QB prospects this FA/Draft season. The "final straw" might be when Bowles announces the starting QB for next season as McCown, "Because he gives us the best chance to win". BTW: This is my criteria. I understand a lot of you either haven't been rooting for them for nearly as long, or perhaps you just have more tolerance. I'm not trying to convince anyone to not be a fan, it's up to each fan to decide that for themselves. And I also reserve the right to change my mind.
If your a true fan you will be back regardless. Those saying that they are not going to be fans going forward will be right back here whining, hijacking every thread with the same shit as always. The only thing that will cause them to stop being fans is if the Jets go 16-0, the D has shutouts every game and the team wins the Superbowl. Then there's nothing left to complain about...... Half will still be back to bitch that we won't repeat
Quitting forever? Or just refusing to pay any attention to them until they rectify the situation? Because I'd never quit them forever, but I barely paid any attention to the team this year and absent them drafting Darnold or Rosen, I suspect I won't be paying attention next year either.
I suffered for over 50 years. I'm riding it out until I'm dead and buried. If I get to the promise land I will still be a Jet fan.
How do you not pay attention to them throughout the season, do you not look for the scores or read a match report the next day, it just seems kind of odd to me that, a fan is a fan is a fan and even if you can't watch games live or through the medium of TV/streams then you would always at least look up the results and reports, hell the internet makes life easy and the NFL.com site even shows you as much highlights as you could ever want for free. Plus anybody who thinks naming themselves unhappyjetsfan on a fan forum is a good idea isn't much of a fan to begin with.
It's a bit strange that three people have said they would quit on the Jets if they drafted a defensive player in round 1. Our defense is putrid. Absolute crap. It's like someone telling a fireman to stop pouring water into a house, because he's been doing it for hours. But the house is still on fire. Just because we've drafted so many defensive players down't mean anything - most of them were crap and many aren't with the team any more, or won't be for much longer. I would prefer a decent QB prospect because I think we badly need one, but if there is no signal-caller there I would have no problem with a pass-rusher. Because our defense STINKS.
The only way I'd quit on the Jets is if this protesting bullshit continues or if they ever signed Kaperdick ... in turn i'll be done with the entire NFL. I'll never quit on this team for anything other then that .
I have gone more than four decades as a Jets fan without a Superbowl appearance in my lifetime. If I haven't quit by now it just ain't gonna happen. Also, using a top ten pick on the first or even the second QB in the draft is probably a good idea. Settling for the third or even fourth QB is likely to be a reach and could haunt us for years. If we are going to take a QB in round one no matter what we should be using the phones to move up or down. This team needs to start playing chess instead of checkers.
I would never say never .There was a time when going to Jet games and having season tickets was a way of life for me.Years ago I could NEVER imagine giving up my tickets and if you had told me then that I would not be going to games now and I was going to give them up , there would have been a lot of laughter involved . My family and friends are still shocked that I gave up my tickets and when I run into old friends that I have not seen they always assume that we still go on Sundays , I can never say never,,,,j
Agree with CBG While I will always be a Jets Fan there is an ebb and flow to the intensity as I got older. To answer the original question drafting a defensive back or non pass rushing defensive lineman in the first will push the limits. Living in NC I have been rooting for the Panthers as a second (nfc) team for a while. Well today happens to be one of the few games this year the Jets are on regular TV going up against the Panthers/Packers game not much doubt which game will get more attention. man these vote results are bs My loyalty to them is unconditional unfortunately. I'll never leave. It's the only team I share this with, basketball there is no loyalty. Baseball is baseball.
