Brutal draft. Had the Jets played their cards right, they could've landed two HOF'ers. Anthony Munoz was the next pick after Lam Jones and in the 2nd round Dwight Stephenson was the next pick after another Jet bust Ralph Clayton (WR, Mich.). Only Lance Mehl in the 3rd round kept that draft from being a complete disaster.

Some of our noticeable busts including Blair Thomas and Roger Vick got a fair amount of playing time and even had a couple good games.

Vernon Gholsten on the other hand had zero sacks despite spending at least three years on our roster.

Very poor value for #6 overall.

I remember watching the draft and one of the analysts describing Mitchell as the gold nugget of that draft.

Mitchell was our top WR before he got injured.

Despite his poor attitude he wasn't that bad of a pick.

Kotite under-utilized many of his players including a young man that felt compelled to write a book called "Give me that Damned Ball" under Kotite after his rookie season.

    Yes that was Brady.

The judges would also have accepted Anthony Becht.

Blair Thomas rotated in with Freeman McNeil, Brad Baxter, and another RB but looked pretty good during the first half of his rookie year.

Then he fumbled in the Monday night game against the Bears and lost his confidence.

He was a completely different player after that game.

I am pretty sure that game still gives him nightmares.

I realize he was a third round pick, so he can't really be considered a "bust", but I like to harken back to the Dwayne Crutchfield disaster.

A RB out of Iowa State, drafted in '82...the Jets hyped this guy like he was the second coming of Jim Brown. Big, strong, fast.

Unfortunately, he also had an unquenchable cocaine habit.

I sweat to god, one time he get tackled and he tried to snort the yard line chalk.

I have to say Dwyane Richardson only because he cost us 2 first rounders and a fourth.
2003: Chicago traded the fourth overall pick to the Jets for the 13th and 22nd overall selections, plus the Jets' fourth-rounder. The Jets got DT Dwayne Robertson. The Bears ended up with DE Michael Haynes and QB Rex Grossman.

    Otherwise it's Gholston.

My pick is Dewayne Robertson who was selected with the #4 pick in the draft, but he actually cost us two 1st round picks (the 13 and 22 picks), plus the 4th round pick.

The biggest slap in the face was both Gholston and Robertson were being rumored as the Patriots picks and the Jets snagged them ahead of the pats. Was it dumb patriot luck or did they pull a scam on the Jets all along. Nothing like drafts two huge busts and preventing your biggest rival from making the same mistake.

    In the last 10 years:

    1. Vernon Gholston
    2. Kyle Wilson
    3. Stephen Hill
    4. Vladimir Ducasse
    5. Time will tell. Could be Milliner, though I hope he can develop eventually.
