He did not tear his rotator cuff. There is no article because it is not true. He had a torn labrum and had a minor surgery to repair it. It would have been a major surgery with months and months of rehab if he had a torn rotator cuff.
I think it's more indicative that most NFL teams, even as of 2017 still weren't looking at QB as THE critical position that it is in the modern NFL.
It's hard to find something that doesn't exist. He actually said "the shoulder wasn't anywhere near as bad as ... Drew Bees." It was a labrum tear.
He’s very accurate; I have no concerns about that. I more concerned about his arm strength relative to the throws he attempts. I don’t believe the strength is there to “get away with” in the NFL a lot of the attempts folks are wowed by in his highlights. That and decision making are going to be the reason for most of his early INTs IMO. Maybe he learns his limits like that reporter suggests but he strikes me as a riverboat gambler. Those guys are usually hard to tame.
At no point have I felt the QB position was ever devalued. 2017 was just a product of bad scouting and evaluating. The talking heads labeled it a bad QB class from the jump. They’ve been trying to overcompensate for this error ever since. Darnold, Baker and now Wilson were/are all getting overdrafted because of the Mahomes miss.
I'm optimistic that he'll learn and adjust because the reports of him being a film room junkie and a perfectionist. Guy like that HATE to lose or get beat, and they figure out ways to beat you the next time. No way to prove this of course, just my gut feeling.
Sean Peyton rebuilt him and gave him a solid run game with an intermediate passing game that suited Brees’s unbelievable accuracy.
Epilepsy with a potential #2 pick that is a QB...Yeah, no thanks. There will be value there to be had but no way do I risk it that high. Alan Faneca isn't also the central piece to a offense on every play as much as he has been great. Samari Rolle missed like 6 games cause those seizures came at him hard. I think the Patriots probably have a real good shot at Fields now. Thus ends all that Fields hyper analysis to get him to the Jets. @legler82 start ordering that Zach "Chosen 1" Wilson Jets jersey.
Yes, there is definitely some of that, but going back to when Rodgers was drafted, even at that point a lot of teams - NY Jets - still believed they could win with a great defense and an average QB/offense. In 2017 - hell even now - there was still some teams that believed that. But because of Mahomes, and Watson and Allen to a slightly lesser degree, as well as the difference Brady made for the Bucs, teams are now "all in" on getting a great QB as the primary ingredient for winning a SB.
That is true, which is why I really hope they sit him for a bit. There is almost ZERO patience left with this fan base. I had to groan when hearing that BYU guy on the Cool Your Jets podcast say "If the Jets fans are patient..." - yeah, not likely. But of course that's going to be true for whomever they take as QB, even if it were Lawrence.
