    I don’t understand the
BYU is not the same as EIU, Wyoming, and ND St. The school has produced plenty of NFL talent and HOF QB.

You haven't been following. Normally BYU plays a decent schedule. Due to Covid, this past season was filled with Sister Mary's Children of the Poor. You could have put up the numbers he did.

    Am I getting this right?

And I can guaranty you Bama, OSU, and Clemson won’t miss a beat without their QBs.

Not only does the Fields side never admit he has any red flags but they constantly act like the Wilson side refuses to acknowledge Wilson's red flags. It's lunacy.

To be fair, almost every appearance I've seen with Chris Simms is awkward as hell.

The HoF QB learned under Walsh and Seifert and got to sit for years because of Montana. Other than that nobody has been a good NFL QB for more than a few years.

Wilson when a NFL slot corner tackles him.

We could probably assemble a team of TGGers that would've put up a couple touchdowns on Texas State.

With Kurt committing personal fouls the entire drive? No chance.

So was that the reason not to draft Watson?

No, he did not. He was bottom 5 in TO worthy play, and not even in top 20 of clean pocket accuracy. He still had these same issues in NFL, where he is the worst by far from clean pocket and extremely TO prone. Zach leads these areas in College, where Sam was among the worst.

You could see in his eyes the part where he realizes “oh shit, you’re talking about me”.

By the way, I’m starting to hate the term “boom or bust”. Seem like it’s an out folks put out there in case they are wrong about a prospect. Technically, any prospect can boom and any prospect can bust except for maybe Wilson.

Watson was a transformative player at Clemson. He took the program to another level.

He played two ranked teams (compared to 3 of Trevor). Played teams with good defenses, like SDSU. Yes, the schedule was weaker, but not all was cupcake. And he performed well each time. He played some similar opponents from years past and did much better. If you look at offensive rankings of BYU, they skyrocketed. Their defensive rating are on par with years past, even though this was supposed to be cupcake schedule. Zach delivered the goods against cupcakes and decent teams, and I think he will do the same for the Jets.

Is Zach's supporting cast talent relative to the opponent more than that of Fields/Lawrence? Didn't you post some metric yourself before that showed Zach played 9 out of 12 teams, which had a pretty decent defensive rankings (SP+ I think)? This is not Lance or Jones, whose talent is way above the competition to the point it is not even close. Zach had a good OL, like Fields did as well, but from what I observed Fields' receivers were more open. Zach had to make a lot of tight window throws. And Fields and TL had OK RBs too to hand the ball off to.

I don’t dispute any of Fields’ “issues” (I prefer areas for improvement); they are just not as “glaring” to me as I guess they are to you. I’m fine with this difference of opinion; I don’t understand why others are not. Josh Allen’s inaccuracy and poor college production was “glaring” issues to many but not to me. Mahomes’ mechanics, footwork and college system were glaring issues to others but not me. Wilson’s injury history, level of competition, decision making are of major concern though not “glaring” to myself and a small minority of fans but not apparently JD and the vast majority of fans, draft experts and media. In the end, it all comes down to what each individual value and devalue. I don’t think Fields is perfect; he’s just my preferred QB prospect in this class for the Jets based on what I value and devalue.
