This actually reminds me a lot of Darnold. Super sloppy feet.

I am curious on why was Trubisky not retained by the Bears? Was he that bad? I see winning record, 64 TD, 37 INT 64% comp. 87.2 QBR
Is it another Goff situation where the QB is not bad but not good enough to deserve the 2nd contract paycheck?

I don't presume to speak for Bickety, Legler, since he is obviously more than capable of speaking for himself, but I think that in this instance, he was merely stating/implying that out of respect for Brook!, he was going to tone it down, and would not have posted what he did, if he had first read Brooks! message to all of us. I think that is all he was saying.

Yeah I'm kind of tired of this let's rally around the GM because he knows best attitude. We're here to discuss things as fans not suck the GM off that just fielded a 2-14 roster last year.

I don't think I've said that the "experts" know more than anyone, I just use them as supporting evidence for my own POV which I've regularly acknowledged is not expert level. I think that's what most of the "regulars" here do, but there are exceptions of course.

I thought Trubisky got a raw deal last year, honestly. Not that I think he's any good, but given the shitty offensive line, the Bears could've used a guy with a bit more mobility last year than streaky Foles who shit the bed after he played Atlanta.

Trubisky's limited because in the season they went 12-4 they relied heavily on screens and gadget plays through Tarik Cohen and friends. But he still was their best option last year.

The days of missing on a QB in the 1st round crippling your franchise financially for half a decade are long gone. If the guy sucks or is even just m meh, you can simply try again in short order. Teams aren’t settling anymore.

Zach Wilson reminds me of Peter Pan. He prances and is gleeful.

Like I said it’s not you specifically but it’s too often a common retort.

So, if we acknowledge that a guy who has worked professionally in the front offices of several successful teams, and has been a GM for 2+ years now of the Jets knows more than we do, we're "sucking him off"? Got it!

he was horrible, Kryptotix. and he was not going to get any better. Trubisky just did not have the mental make-up to be a successful QB in this league. He is not capable of efficiently progressing through his reads EVEN when he has the time to do so, he is skittish in the pocket, makes consistently bad decisions under pressure, and his accuracy comes and goes....one second he will throw a legit dime...and then he will miss wide open guys with his next 3-4 throws. Regarding the stats which you cited: A-don't be fooled by the winning record. He only has a winning record bc of the phenomenal defense which the Bears fielded in 2018 led by DC Fangio, which basically drove the team to that 12-4 regular season record, with Trubisky, Nagy and a middling offense along for the ride. Regarding his QBR and TD to INT ratio....well, by today's wide open NFL offense/pass happy standards, those stats are actually mediocre, ESP for a guy taken 2nd overall, ahead of Watson and Mahomes. One final point...Trubisky was a noted "stat padder"....he would toss 4-5 TDS vs. 0 INTS when going up against a team with the worst pass defense in the NFL or a really banged up secondary playing all 2nd and 3rd stringers.....but against everybody else he was bad to average at best.

Yeah, when people simply parrot what some "expert" says without having at least watched video, read or listened to other sources, and then drawn their own conclusions I don't give much weight to the post.

With all due respect, Jonathan, it is kind of disingenuous to blame JD for the 2-14 record last year for a host of obvious reasons...and you know that, since you are a knowledgeable fan.

Well in all fairness he did address the two biggest reasons we were 2-12 last season: He's replaced Gase with his choice of HC and he's in the process of replacing the Sam Darnold. Remember, he didn't hire Gase nor did he draft Darnold. Now if you want to argue that Gase and Darnold weren't a huge part of why they went 2-14, then that's a different story.

No but the "let's just trust JD," is a line to end the discussion as if he automatically knows best. He seems like he's put us on the right path. So did Maccagnan though and he also worked for a couple successful franchises (particularly the Texans who drafted pretty damn well when he was there under Rick Smith).

Because I wanted to get your thoughts on the time frame I posted? Why else would I ask?
