Douglas gains nothing by letting anyone know his plans. Some people read into vague comments if they believe those comments support their own views even when that's not the case. Certainly there was no confirmation, especially a literal one and that's far from splitting hairs. Right now, I'd say there's about a 70% chance that the Jets will pick Wilson at number two and a 99.8% chance that Douglas will be taking phone calls until he hands in the card.
Please dont generalize about who was on what side then & now. Im still pissed off about that thread & timeframe. And based on whats happening now & what will happen at pick 2..may have been the beginning of the end for my being a fan of this team.

I know I have refrained from breaking down my opinions of these QB's this year because I already foresee all of the "He's an OSU fan, he's biased, of course you think Justin Fields Is the best choice." Blah-Blah-Blah So I haven't done much of It unless It was asked for. I will say.. From my recollection and for all those that are so high on Chris Simms... I do remember a lot of the same people that were banging the table for Josh Allen, are also the same people banging the table for Justin Fields. Could be coincidence, I don't know, but, I do know that the handful of people that I consistently see on this board, that are also high on Justin Fields, do watch tape. I know they did as well with, Allen. They do research. Study. Not to say nobody else on these boards do, I'm sure of It. I just thought It was funny to think back on, In comparison to where we are now. So.. I'm looking back a bit. It's Interesting. I know I was much more vocal and descriptive about, Josh Allen. Then he got picked by, Buffalo. So I had to turn my back on, Allen. So, I've trolled several Bills fans since he was drafted. Anyway. Overall, yeah, I'm comfortable with my stance on things. You win some, you lose some.

Here let me tell you a funny one form this offseason. dude from reddit was playing a video game online with the wife of an NFL player. he overheard a convo in the background with her husband talking with his agent and posted on reddit he was going to sign with some team (I don't remember all the details) everyone dismissed it as BS, attention seaking blah blah blah. a day later the guys agent confirms it. The whole story was true. was live in an information day and age. sure JD isn't leaking shit but you are talking about being in a building with a ton of scouts, GMs, etc. lots of them with relationships with each other. plus you have bunch of college kids and reporters for the colleges. schefter and steve young both already said wilson to the jets. shit leaks sometimes. not trying to call anyone out or anything. it's 3 years ago. it's just more interesting then anything. lol
You're proving my point by stating the obvious and getting caught up in semantics. Yes, the pick hasn't happened yet. Yes, JD hasn't outright confirmed Wilson is the pick. Reading between the lines and connecting dots it's quite obvious what we're going to do, though. I would also add that the odds for Wilson going #2 were about -1000 when I checked yesterday. Vegas doesn't miss on these things by that large of a margin very often.
I don't know where the anti-Fields stuff is coming from. Feels like somebody might be trying to drop his value? Don't see it working. I think there is a good chance that SF grabs him. Mac Jones tape looks good but you add Fields scrambling ability to what he can do with the ball? Naaaaah. It's Fields.

It has everything to do with Douglas. He's the one who makes the decisions; he's the one you claimed literally confirmed it. It may be probable; it may be what you want but Joe Douglas has not come close to confirming anything nor should he. He should be doing nothing to limit any type of deal whatsoever whether it's trading a draft slot or trading for a Hall of Fame quarterback; he should be waiting for his phone to ring and if he had confirmed anything at all the chances of his phone ringing would be much diminished.
I made a big mistake in darnold in I didn't scout him enough as I didn't think it was possible. same thing with lawerence this year. I haven't paid much attention to him because it's forgone. I took it as the "assumed" best pick and focused on the rest of the class. That's why I haven't talked about lawerence much this off season. Haven't put the time into him and don't want to take the assumption. I learned from my mistake. Most of my time was spent with allen and mayfield. 2nd most was rosen and jackson. least was sam. I wasn't a rosen fan at all but did feel he was "safe" and wouldn't bust but wouldn't be anything great. I wanted him over mayfield who I didn't like at all but but with the assumption darnold was 1OA and jackson out of the picture because the trade up i was allen, rosen, then mayfield. I made a ton of threads and post showing why I loved allen. more then any other prospect. I just went through 20 of the 34 pages and the other 4 page thread. nowhere did I love rosen. at that point it was all allen. Prior to the trade up i wanted to trade back for jackson or sit pat and take allen so maybe you should read it better?
