It’s possible but unlikely that he trades back at this point. I just don’t see it. I think he drafts Wilson and keeps Sam to compete with him for the starting job. If Sam beats him out that’s fine it will help Wilson grow and get up to speed.

It would most likely need to be a player/ draft pick combo which our coaching is pretty familiar with obviously.

Deebo Samuel, Aiyuk, Kittle, Mostert are all intriguing on the offensive playmaking side of the ball. Any of their olinemen, and some of the defenders could also be in play.

It’s probably not happening, but the Jets could get fair value from something other than high picks

As you mentioned, the 49ers are smart enough to not include him. Absent of that they have nothing to move to 2.

Needless to say. This conversation has been fun.

    ..but ultimately.

If JD doesn't take Wilson or Fields at 2. This will be an epic fail on his part. If it's anyone else In this draft, I will be so fucking mad.

You either take the QB or you take the extra draft asset. Huge opportunity missed otherwise In my opinion.

I’m going out on a limb and say 99% of the Jets fan base starting with me completely feel that way too. Picking anything other than a QB at 2 this year will blow me away and make me completely loose faith on JD, a guy I have the most respect for. This board would explode with anger.

I agree also, unless JD trades the pick for a boatload of picks. But def a QB at should be taken unless the deal is too good to pass up

I will tell you this, while I have 80% confidence JD will be selecting Zach, until Carolina's pick is called, I will not be almost 100% sure that we will not trade down.

Wait, you don’t have to wait for Carolina, too late. We will know as the Jets are on the clock at 2.

The 49ers wouldn't move up to 2 including any of their big time talented players. They wouldn't have jumped to 3 to try to move up even more and give up premium players as I'd imagine they believe their guy is going to be available.

Regardless, a 2/3 swap would look similar to the 49ers/Bears trade, not with Bosa, Samuel, Kittle, etc. They don't have any capital to replace those guys in the short term and two of them are elite potential Hall of Fame talents.

I mean it all depends on how bad they want Wilson. I don’t think Bosa or Kittle would be available, but I could see just about anyone else being on the table.

Regardless it’s probably not happening IF the Jets want Wilson. We don’t even know for sure if that’s what the 49ers want to begin with.

If the Jets actually want Fields/Lance/whomever and believe the Niners want Wilson, they could take a 2nd or 3rd this year (plus future 3rds/4ths, whatever) and still end up with their QB of the future. Historically it hasn't cost a 1st to jump one non-#1-overall spot in the draft.

That's assuming they believe in one of this year's QB prospects. If they don't they, then they'd obviously sell the pick for the biggest overall haul they can get.

But the trade back with the Niners (or Falcons) to get more significant assets AND still end up with the QB they believe is the best one to build around, is basically my not-sober-in-celebration-for-several-days draft day scenario.

Thanks, it looks like Fields is his #2, and he doesn't see how Fields can be left out at #3 pick in favor of Jones or even Lance (as mentioned later in the video). It sounded like Wilson was close to Fields though as he said he personally probably prefers Fields to Zach Wilson, but so much of what will transpire will depend on situation, organization, etc... But he was very adamant about Fields going ahead of Jones and Lance.

Those are all good players, but not worth trading a potential FQB for. IMO Bosa would have to be the player.

It mans absolutely nothing, but I just have a bad feeling about Wilson and a good feeling about Fields. Whoever the Jets pick (and I think it's a near certainty they will stay put at No.2 and take one of them), I will be fully behind them. But I have a gut feeling that Wilson is going to flame out.

The Super Bowl was proof that a great qb’ can be beaten but you need at least a good qb to get there in the first place. Football is the ultimate team sport, every part has to perform well in order for the machine to do its job. In football plays can be designed to expose weak defensive players or aspects of a defense and visa versa, defensive schemes can be created for a one time victory that exposes the weaknesses within an offense. It’s a chess game, no one player can be expected to put a team “ on his back” like basketball and win the game. We need talent, trade the #2 and get me a plethora of talented players, we might find a franchise an in round 6.
