Actually it wouldn't surprise me if JD is holding Wilson "hostage" waiting for SF to make the right offer, and then he'll take Fields like he wanted to all along. That's not what I want, but if he got a couple more prime picks AND got Fields, I'd be ok with that.
Surely if they offered something ridiculous like 3 first rounders (not that I expect they ever would), you'd do the trade? If not, you're overconfident in your belief that Wilson is the best QB.
I have been saying for a while that JD is just too secretive and the whole world seems to know that we will pick Wilson at this point. Something ain’t quite right for me.
Perhaps I am overconfident, but if Shanahan and Young are both convinced that Wilson's the right QB, and Fields is 3rd choice after Jones, it confirms my choice, and I'm sticking with Wilson. A true FQB is worth a whole lot more than 3-1st round picks. I'm right a whole more than I'm wrong, so I'll continue to trust my eyes, instinct, and knowledge.
There were a few others on the schedule. Something I brought up before is that he played two common opponents from last year: Boise St and SDSU. Drastically different results. It's not just the weaker schedule.
I am not sure about Shanahan (although I doubt he is convinced about Jones after Pro Days), but Steve I felt has a slight preference of Fields over Jones (and Lance), since he thinks Jones is not mobile enough and would leave a lot of first downs and yards on the table. It sounded like for him Zach is the total package, while Jones/Fields/Lance is next tier, where he prefers a more athletic guy, like Fields, since he is not sure Jones has elite processor. Let me know what you think once you listen to the podcast.
I find it shocking that a former BYU QB who recruited a young man to BYU would think said young man is the perfect fit for his old NFL team.
Let them stroke each other with the big cupcake schedule as the big discriminator. Apparently people that are elite coaches with a pedigree see it otherwise. Ironically, OSU QBs with that massive strength of schedule have never accomplished shit in the NFL but that is not a concern. Fields would be the first in 20 years to overcome that and wish him the best. But that is not a big concern to them, strength of schedule is. Whatever. I trust my coaching staff over fans watching college football. Whomever they choose I’m in full support.
I've listened to almost the whole thing now. He said that he would take the better processor over the better athlete. Steve said he leans towards more athletic QBs, but ability to process quickly is the most important trait, so he would take the better processor (Jones) over Fields.
You going to admit you didn't read the article before posting it or just take jabs while passing that by?
