I’ve said before either in this thread or in the Zack Wilson thread or one of the billion threads were it’s been talked about that I have Wilson and Fields pretty much on an even playing with a preference towards Wilson because of his fit in the offense and the incredible throws he can make on the move. The Simms point is about where he ranks the quarterbacks, the Riddick point is that Darnold can do what Wilson does so there isn’t much of a difference and could even be implying that we should keep Darnold. Apples and oranges. I don’t care whatsoever about Chris Simms and his rankings. I’ll never refer to his rankings ever in any discussion. I do care about Riddick lazily attempting to make a bad point.
You shouldn’t have to ask why posting one clip with zero context of the last three years included to make a point about whether or not you should keep a quarterback is bad or false, but you did so you can find my answer a few posts back.
Look at his replies to the people tweeting at him about how stupid his point was. He keeps saying that Darnold wasn’t the problem and it’s stupid to think the next quarterback is going to solve all the problems.
Replies to Jets specific tweets doesn’t necessarily mean that was initial post was intended to convey the Jets should keep Darnold. I didn’t interpreted as such.
What exactly do you think he was trying to convey then when he’s flat out saying “the next quarterback isn’t going to fix it“ and saying Darnold wasn’t the problem?
Riddick has his opinion that he still believes in Sam and that the Jets should trade down to build around him. Some people disagree and that’s fine. The jury is still out. I actually think he would be good enough with improvements across the board BUT it might be better to reset the QB salary with a rookie since neither option is a sure thing. Maybe everyone is right in the end?
Ah, you see I thought it was about the way you dismissed one guy's opinion because he had been passed over 3 times for a GM role, so his opinion isn't reliable but Simms on the other hand is reliable despite him not ever having been a GM but desperately wants to be, but his opinion is valid regardless. Obviously, I was wrong.
Nope, I don’t care what Simms says. He made some interesting points prior to 2018 that ended up being spot on but so did that guy here who plays Pokémon and thinks he’s gods gift. Edit: not a shot at Pokémon.
What I love is the media and fans going nuts for a scripted play, w/o defense... Which play? Wilson with a throw on the move, 50 yards. Well everyone knows Sam's strength has been his great ability to throw on the run. As matter of fact this throw is much harder than the scripted play of Wilson. Sam actually has made many highlight reel throws on the run. I bet if those plays were Mahomes they'd be on ESPN top 10 for the whole year. This Sam throw is as hard is gets. You go back to pass, scan, get pressured, break pocket, run to your left, scan field, defender sitting in the throwing window, WR running opposite direction as QB, throw across opposite side of qb momentum, with enough to get passed LB, and just enough touch to make it to a WR who catches ball in full stride. Good luck trying to even make this play happen in practice. This is a special play and there were others. Yes Darnold had some boneheaded plays also, no doubt. But his ability to throw on the run is special.
When I watch Zack highlight films, the QB he reminds me of the most is USC Sam Darnold. Almost a clone, especially with his off platform throws. Maybe a 'better Sam Darnold'?
This is just a really good thread of tight window Wilson throws: Its really really easy to see what the coaching staff envisions with Mims/Davis on those play action throws. Both of them can go up and get it while also getting behind their man.
