The header is wrong where it says "perfect quarterback," it should read "Zach Wilson."

    LOL!

But truthfully, I'd say the only "miss" on the above is he is nowhere near Cam Newton's size, but the rest? In the ball park, more so than anyone else.

As usual, a ridiculous statement from that poster. The Wilson hate is ridiculous. Wilson is NOT perfect. No one is. Wilson is elusive and quick, but I wouldn't call him really fast, maybe not even fast. As you correctly pointed out, size-wise he is nowhere near Cam Newton. He doens't have the arm strength of Mahomes, but he has a lot of the other characteristics of Mahomes and Rodgers. If people can't see that, that's on them. I think his vision is approaching Brady level, and once he's in the NFL could prove to be on Brady's level. His elusiveness is not as good as Russell Wilson, but is elite imo.

I am a big Zach Wilson supporter but I have 4 valid critics about him!

    1) His size, although he seems tall enough he does look smallish out there and he will have to bulk up.

    2) Even more importantly as it relates to point 1), he needs to take care of his body, I appreciate the 'courage' on diving for more yards but that is not what you want from you most precious asset. Take care of your body, slide, don't take unnecessary hits. The NFL is a league with no mercy and they will punish him if he does that.

    3) His injury record. Related even more to point 1) and 2). He already has a significant injury record. I don't put too much emphasis IF he is cleared by doctors but when you invest such a significant pick and resource you want to make sure your asset is durable.

    4) The zip (or velocity) on his throws. While he has great deep ball strength and accuracy. I have seen some of his throws float a bit or fall flat unlike a Justin Fields who throws missile even on short throws. I think this is part of his throwing motion. Since he throws the ball so fast he does not put his full weight in and does not fully extend his arms. That being said his accuracy and consistency are top notch and I am hopefull that him getting stronger could add a bit more velocity to his throws. I also cannot wait for the pro day, I want to see how hard he can throw the ball without any pressure.

I know some people will bring up the level of competition he faced and while it's valid concern IMO it's NOT that relevant because you could never properly evaluate how he would have done against better competition. Many successful QB in the NFL had the same question marks and excelled. What he has is easily transferable to the NFL which is quick throwing motion and decision making, movement in the pocket, throwing on the run, arm strength, accuracy and anticipation. He is a bit non chalant at some point and he will try dangerous throws and unconventional throws but that has not been a problem for some elite QBs like Mahomes and it is easily coachable/managable.

And he was amazing that game. He got denied a couple big plays by flags and easy ball dropped by his receivers.

I also kinda disagree with that point. If it was the case you would see way more top QB talent succeed in the NFL as many have the arm strength but fail with the mental aspect and complexity of it. While you can learn to read the defense and process a bit better the information in front of you, the quick decision is not really coachable.

The things I like about Fields, it's his size, running ability and arm strength. If he can find a coach and a system that maximize these attributes he could become a superstar not unlike Lamar Jackson

I guess I remembered your opinion wrong - I thought you liked Wilson as a Day 2 or mid-round pick.

I like the Romo comp. He’s more Romo than the aforementioned Mount Rushmore worthy QBs. Romo was a popular comp for Sam as well during the draft process. Wilson is more Romo IMO than Darnold ever was.

Other than being black and fast Fields and Lamar are nothing alike. Fields is closer to Dak & Watson than Lamar IMHO.

I was talking about adapting the offense to suit his talent/strength like the Ravens did with Lamar.

I don't see the read, vision and anticipation of a Dak or Watson in him.

Yeah, I hadn't thought of that before - frankly I haven't watched a lot of Romo, but I've watched enough to see the comparison. If he becomes as good as Romo I'll be happy, but I think he can be even better - time will tell.

I just want to point out that Herbert & Allen had “processing speed”, “locking on to 1st read” & “holding the ball” criticisms as well.

I’ve warmed up to Wilson once I was able to see every throw and run he made last year.

That clip was kinda weird and you only saw him release the ball to show he had a lot of time. However, I’ve seen him make awesome plays with pressure so I don’t hold that film in high regard

I like both to be honest. I know it’s a cop out but I really do. The thing I can’t stress enough about Wilson is he will need time. He can’t start right away and if they do that I’m fine with it. Fields I think u can start day 1 because like Lamar and Cam in the first 2-3 years he will have so much juice and athleticism running the football. Wilson like Mahomes, Rodgers and Favre that are talented passers of the football from smaller schools need time to get up to speed in the NFL in practice. We ruined Darnold and Sanchez because of this and it pisses me right off. To do it again would just be unreal in my books....

Trade Sam for Jimmy G and let Jimmy start for a year and groom Wilson and then unleash him with a fresh draft crop next year. It’s the best move JD can make

  19. Agreed that The romo comp was poor for Darnold..

Would love your opinion on this..but I Dont really get too excited for any QB w that comp.He was a good not great QB who was elevated due to his marketability, team he played for & women he dated. He also was an undrafted free agent which speaks volume
