Simms oddly has not been generally wrong. He been making a good call. Surprising to see Wilson over Trevor. Maybe the gap is close. I honestly just don't know with these guys...I will give Simms credit for the Lamar draft order and having Mahomes as his #1 that year
Watch his comments on these QBs in the link I provided a few posts up. Simms has a lot to say about all these QBs. He's REALLY high on Zack Wilson.
He said on the show he was crucified for putting Lamar/Allen ahead of Sam/Baker. I think this was his only list, kind of like now with Zack Wilson #1.
I know from watching him on PFT that Simms is a huge Josh Allen homer, and no doubt he'd have Josh ahead of Lamar at this point. Not sure if he switched Allen ahead of Lamar pre-draft. But he may have.

If JD is close to as this high on Wilson as Simms is, then the decision is pretty easy. Just play the game and take the best offer you can for Sam and take Wilson. The problem is that Watson’s situation is unresolved - We don’t know how high the Texans are on Wilson or any of the other rookies or even Sam himself. Also, if we’re out of the sweepstakes, then it makes it easier on the Dolphins as they will likely be in on Watson So much going on but JD needs to keep everything close to the vest for a variety of reasons. That’s why I don’t think Sam has been traded yet, even if that’s the plan and we were offered something solid back
...and if the Texans are as high on Zack as Simms, then they'll take our #2 overall for Watson and call it a day! Either way, Zack getting major props from a top evaluator like Chris Simms is pure gold for the Jets.
Yes, that original order was perfect, and he flip flopped a bit on the order, but largely he was still right and Lamar and Allen are great talents, which he recognized ahead of time. He nailed it with Mahomes, Lamar, Allen, Murray, Burrow, and Herbert. Aside from Burrow and Murray, it was not that obvious. That's a lot of hits right there, someone you cannot just ignore. You add to that Tim Jenkins with very similar takes, almost identical actually, and it is becoming very clear it's a good time to have #2 pick in this draft.
