For a blowout we would need for the offense and defense to both play terribly. With the off season improvements at safety and on the D line, I don't see this happening. The last couple years we were weak at safety and 3rd down big plays killed us. Leonhard getting hurt demonstrated this perfectly. I think we'll be much more stingy on 3rd this year and also better against the run + pass rush, so we shall see. I think our chance of getting blown out is much lower this year than the last 2 years.
A loss is a loss - not too concerned with the margin. But you are right that we do not have many (if any) better than avergae offensive weapons. Green avg RB, Sanchez avg QB, WR corp less than avg (Holmes slightly better than avg), Keller could be better than avg if utilized. Add a decent OL with a glaring weak link (Hunter) in the chain and it spells - 7 or 8 wins tops. Doesn't matter how good our defense is if we can't score.
Well my mantra from day 1 I joined TGG was winning the SB so U have not post the correct info. History tells me that since I joined TGG the NYJs have not won a SB so how have I been wrong? Hopefully the mods will wake up & see this so that U can be banned U for posting misinformation
we arent going to score alot of points. so there is always that possibility things could get away, especially if we turn it over
I fear low scoring games, where our defense doesn't let people score and our offense can't even manage field goals. BORING
Although the first preseason game did not look pretty and was as vanila as vanila can be for the offensive line. With that being said, Last year most of the offensive line was hurt or out for a few games and this year they seem to be heathly and ready to go, Baring no injuries we should be fine. Plus its to early in the Spags learning to look for a tall bridge yet. Also players will get cut and will have a chip on their shoulders to say they can still play in the NFL. Lets watch game two and see what happens.. Go Jets
I mixed up Adrian Jones with Adrian Clarke. We don't seem to do well with the Adrians. In that case I agree that is a black mark on Tanny's record. When I made the post I was thinking of how Clarke single handedly got Kellen Clemens powerbombed by Vince Wilfork. Clarke was a human turnstyle. I meant to say that Hunter was better than him... though I guess just about anyone is. As for 2009 I believe that showed Tanny is willing to make something happen when things aren't right. The Jets went into the season believing they could make it work with what they had and they were dead wrong... not the first time it would've happened in the NFL. Tanny made a good trade that helped the Jets reach the AFCCG. Could it have been planned better? Definitely. But they also found a way to get the job done. No one in the NFL is that telepathic that they can not only get every decision correct but also optimize the effect of each decision. I think if an opportunity presents itself and the need is great enough Tanny will once again do what he does to give the team a shot this year.
Dude...your posts have always been kinda tiresome but calling for a ban? Why don't you call the teacher and your mom too? If that was a joke it's lame, if not, you're a loser. /happy to accept a ban if my comment warrants one
The only difference between Wayne Hunter and Adrien Clarke is that Clarke played closer to the center of the field and closer to the QB and on his blindside and so his miscues were even more devastating. Clarke actually had some upside in theory. He wasn't post-prime yet, although he had injury concerns. Wayne Hunter is just a goddawful mistake that Tannenbaum cannot own up to for some reason and so is going to watch another season go down the tubes. That's on Tannenbaum not Hunter.
I have this fear as well...We have the worst WR core in the league... Your team can't compare to our shitty receivers...Not one decent WR or TE that scares anyone.
If he is AS bad as you say, then we're really screwed if Ferguson repeats last year's performance which was a close second worst to Hunter. Hunter at least showed he's got SOME sort of potential in the playoffs two years ago. I know that's not much to work on but Rex seems pretty convinced about him clearly for reasons other than what happened on the field last year. The protection is definitely the biggest ??? heading into the season... I just hope you're wrong concerning how badly this will hurt us. Not because I want you personally to be wrong, but just because the o-line is truly the x-factor in how far this team is able to go.
I hope I'm wrong also because I'd really like to see the Jets win a Super Bowl before everything gets blown up again.
I hate to put so much on a rookie but to me it all comes down to how much we get from Hill. We need him to establish himself as a legit deep threat. Our defense will keep us in most games and hopefully give us an edge in field position .... and lets not forget about McKnight giving us some big returns. I may be in the minority but I also believe that Tebow will be a big factor in keeping drives alive.
